Absolutely worth visiting
It is an old house of Ito Denemon, who made a big fortune by running canon mines. Due to its location, it is not as touristic as Mojiko Retro, but it is absolutely worth visiting even spending one day...
It's a lovely home and touring it is a great way to learn about history. There are numerous interesting details that show us how well-to-do coal mining barons lived. Guides also provide additional in...
Huge home with formal garden and 2 kure (warehouses)
Not much English on signs, but they hand out a half-page explanation of the property. Unfortunately, they don't explain the tie-in to the famous TV drama "Hanako." Nevertheless, it was interesting to...
The House of Yanagiwara Byakuren's second Husband.
This house was the main residence of coal mining merchant Ito Den-emon whose second marriage was to Yanagiwara Byakuren (also her second marriage) who was a cousin of Emperor Taisho. Yanigawara wrot...
I went to see it because it was the bride of Hakuren Yanagihara. As expected, there were only people who could get their bride from the imperial family, and it was a very nice Japanese house and the Niha was wonderful. I felt that the coal mine king at that time was a big deal. However, the exhibits inside were still centered on Hakuren and there weren't many Denemon-related items. The building was enough to compete with the herring palace in Otaru. It is a must-see.
