There was a castle tower in Kuwana Castle, but it was destroyed by fire, and the Tatsumi turret that was here has been used instead. However, the turret was burned down by the new government army during the Boshin War, and it is now only the site.
During the Boshin War, the Kuwana clan sided with the Shogunate and was defeated by the government army. The Mie turret, which was the symbol of Kuwana Castle, was burned down. Currently, only small hills remain, probably because it was destroyed as a rebel castle.

An explanation board for the Mie Tatsumi turret stood beside the stone steps of the red bridge that forms an eastern house over Yoshinobori at the southeast corner of the former Kuwana Castle Honmaru site. The castle tower built by Tadakatsu Honda was not rebuilt after being destroyed by the great fire of Genroku, and it seems that the Tatsumi turret was a symbol of the castle after that. It was burned down by the new government army of the Meiji Restoration as a proof of the fall, and there was no bundle of stone left, but a cannon that was unknown was placed on the site of a small turret that climbed more than a dozen stone steps.
