Located by the Caizi Pool in the north of Leiyang City, Caihou Temple was originally the former residence of Cai Lun (AD 63-121), the inventor of papermaking in the Eastern Han Dynasty. It is unknown when Caihou Temple was built, but was rebuilt by Chen Zongyi of Zhizhou in Leiyang in the fourth year of Yuan to Yuan (1338). After several times of rise and fall, the existing building was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty, which is simple and elegant. The eaves is covered with green dragon and white tiger tiles, and the square bricks are laid on the ground. The roof is made of single eaves and Xieshan, and the arched head is fully carved with dragon floating. There is a Hangui plant in the temple, which is 9 meters high and 0.8 meters in diameter. It is tall and straight and green, and blooms in mid-autumn.
