Simply stunning temple.
My son and I have visited this attraction twice, once on a rainy day, once on a perfect spring day, 2 weeks ago. We were delighted to find that a little English is spoken. There are little mushroom ce...
The approach to the magnificent mountain gate of Sokoji Temple is lined with interestingly pruned cedars called mushroom cedar. The mountain gate is 1811 year and has a history of 200 years. There is also a garden behind the main hall, and it is a temple with many attractions.
It was a place with a quiet and wonderful atmosphere that I could hear the sound of the environment in the wilderness. Large and small trees 々 stand out solemn and majestic.
It is a temple located in the Matsuyama district, about 20 minutes by car from the center of Sakata City. It stands quietly at the temple at the foot of the forest of the sea view.
I visited by bus from Sakata Station for about 30 minutes. Totakiyama Sokoji Temple was built more than 600 years ago, but it is a green temple with a natural monument designated by Yamagata Prefecture and you can see mushroom cedars 350 years old. The mushroom cedar literally has a cute mushroom-shaped shape, and there are about 120 large and small trees in total. It's a pleasant place just to take a walk.
