Kang Youwei Island

In the seaside town of Baden (Salt Lake Bath), a seaside town southeast of Stockholm, there is a "Kang Youwei Island" that is proud of the local overseas Chinese. After the failure of the Hundred Days Reform in China, Kang Youwei went into exile abroad. The terroir here aroused the love of the overseas traveller, so he bought a small island in the Baden area of the sand dunes, and built a Chinese-style garden on the island in 1909, naming it "Beihai Thatched Cottage", relying on him to live in a foreign country and cherish the strong feelings of his homeland. More than 100 years later, the "North Sea Thatched Cottage" on Kang Youwei Island has long since disappeared under the erosion of the cold winds of the Baltic Sea, but the local Chinese are still used to calling the island "Kang Youwei Island".
