Japan's largest Tengu
Original Text
About 10 minutes walk from Atagobashi Station. The year of its founding is unknown. Originally enshrined in Yonezawa, he was relocated to Iwadeyama, Tamatsukuri County with the transfer of Date Masamune. Then, due to Masamune's entry into Sendai Castle, he was relocated to his current location in 1603. The deity is Treatment God. About 200 stone steps continue from the first torii gate. In the middle of the stone steps, there are two torii gates (built in 2012) and three torii gates (built in 2013), and the oldest four torii gates (built in 1781) stand up the stone steps. The tower gate ahead is "Japan's largest Tengu" and ...
It is a shrine in the southeast of Sendai City. From the shrine, you can overlook the city of Sendai and the view is very good. I'm sure the night view is also beautiful.
A place where you can overlook the city of Sendai and see the sunset over Mt. Aoba. The magnificent nature spreads from the sunset mountain to the Hirose River below, and the city of Tohoku appears at once. Not too urban, not too rural ... It is good to be proud of the world of Sendai. A place where you can see the boundary.
Sendai general guardian. The view from the precincts is wonderful.

It is a shrine located on the top of Mt. Atago at an altitude of 75 m along the Hirose River in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Mr. Date was based in Yonezawa before entering Sendai, but this shrine is also located in Yonezawa, and he moved here to follow the Date family. As the general guardian of Sendai, he has received a lot of reverence from successive feudal lords and common people of the Sendai domain. I came along the Hirose River from Zuihoden, where the mausoleum of Date Masamune is located. I visited the kokuzo Do hall in front of me, and went to atago Jinja shrine in the same precinct.
It's far from the city but within walking distance

You can reach it by climbing a steep uphill or stairs. Although it is a small shrine, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Sendai city from the top of the cliff. I also received a red stamp.
