    Beautiful area

    Elk Lake is beautiful with a great playground, and walking trails. Unfortunately when we went to go there the swimming area was closed due to a high count.

    interesting walk around the lake or through the trails. pileated woodpeckers, herons, cormorants, turkey vultures, possible kingfisher. area ruined by dam at south end which has prevented proper drain...

    Plan your timing to do the full walk.

    We set out in the evening to get a bit of exercise from our hotel just down the road. A very pleasant walk right around the lake (10Km) but, not being from the area, we were not aware of sunset time....
