Camel Peak Scenic Area

Camel Peak is located in the Pepper Peak Scenic Spot of Langshan Mountain. It consists of four stone peaks consisting of head, trunk, ridge and tail. The camel is 273 meters long and 187.7 meters high. It towers above the peaks, setting off the green mountains far and near, like a camel hiking here from the desert. There is an obvious cross on its back, and a frame next to it forms a word "field", so the village here is called Shitian Village. A local folk song says, "A dragon comes from a thousand miles to Shitian, and a pair of candles illuminates the sky. Whoever is buried in the Shitian will be the best among their descendants." There is a "candle peak" next to the camel's peak, which is shaped like a red candle straight into the sky. Liu Kunyi, governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, the minister of Nanyang trade in the Qing Dynasty, built a shrine here when he returned to his hometown because of the spirit of Shitian. The grandson of the temple set Zeng Guofan's "Preface to the Sixtieth Birthday of Xianzhuang's Parents", Zuo Zongtang's "Give to Guanglu Doctor Liu's Cemetery Table" and so on. The shrine is dedicated to Liu Kunyi's parents and ancestors' tablets given by the Empress Dowager Cixi and the wooden plaque of "Five Blessings for Longevity" in gold engraved flowers.
