Yuanmou Man Ancestral House

The ruins of Yuanmou people are located next to the 108 National Road in the southeast of Yuanmou County, Chuxiong Prefecture. In 1965, Chinese geologists discovered the tooth fossils of "Yuanmou Man" here. It has been identified that the Yuanmou people lived 1.7 million years ago, which is one million years ahead of the time of human existence on the basis of "Beijing people" and "Lantian people". Yuanmou's rich ancient cultural heritage is called "natural primitive society museum" by anthropologists. During the investigation of the Yuanmou man site, in addition to the continuous discovery of Yuanmou man bone fossils, various bone tools and stone tools made and used by the Yuanmou man, as well as Yunnan horses, saber-toothed tigers, saber-toothed elephants and other animal fossils were unearthed. Charcoal scraps and objects burned black were also found in the ruins of the Yuanmou people, which proves that the Yuanmou people could use fire in addition to labor tools, which is the beginning of human history in my country. Knowledge about Yuanmou people has been included in Chinese history textbooks. Note: Yuanmou Man Site, Yuanmou Ancient Ape Site, Stone Tool Site and many other ancient sites are all open to the public free of charge, suitable for tourists interested in archaeology and other aspects.
