M2a***uu:“The Alishan Forest Recreation Area is a tourist attraction located in Alishan Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. It is a branch of the Yushan Mountain Range and comprises eighteen peaks covering a total area of 1,400 hectares.
The Alishan region spans Taiwan's tropical, warm, and temperate forest zones, boasting a rich forest resource. Its renowned cypress trees are a common sight, visible throughout the forests. Red cypress, Taiwan cypress, Taiwan fir, hemlock, and Armand pine are known as the "Five Trees of Alishan." Cryptomeria japonica is the most successful introduced species in artificial forestation in the area. Along the forest railway, the lush forests stretching from mountain to valley create a spectacular spectacle. From mid-March to mid-April, the area's cherry blossom season celebrates, with Yoshino cherry, double cherry, and mountain cherry blossoms dotting the mountains in a vibrant display. Other flowers, such as Mori's azalea, heather, and foxglove, also bloom. The protected Taiwan iris reserve is also worth admiring.”

However, there are free shuttle buses from the train station and the high-speed rail station, which can take you to the National Palace Museum Southern Branch for free. Anonymous user:“You can enjoy the sea of clouds, the famous Meishan 36 bends, and even the Jianan Plain in the distance. The Taiping Ladder is 281 meters long and about 1,000 meters above sea level. It is the highest scenic suspension bridge in Taiwan. As long as I walk up this ladder and look far away from a high place, I can feel the earth under my feet. There are many scenic spots after walking up the ladder and then going up the mountain road. You can also stroll around Taiping Old Street and experience the specialties of the old street. A must-see for those who like hiking”

There are wooden plank roads and viewing platforms here. You can see tea gardens and bamboo forests along the way. The air is full of the fresh smell of grass and trees. When the weather is good, you can see the mountains and sea of clouds in the distance from the top of the mountain. In the early morning, the fog is heavy and the clouds flow in the mountains, like an ink painting. If you come in the evening, the sunset dyes the clouds orange, which is very good for taking pictures.”

E28***52:“There is not much open to the public in Alishan. After entering the forest park, you have to take a small train to Zhuoping Station. It takes less than an hour to walk around. Then take a small train back from Shenmu Station, otherwise you have to go back the same way. The journey takes a few minutes and the price is 100 Taiwan dollars per trip. The scenic spot is that the big trees are artificially made into the shape of some artworks. It is still less interesting than in China. I just go there when I come.”

There are restaurants and homestays on the old street. Fenchihu bento is quite famous, with high cost performance and good taste.
There is a railway museum where you can visit.
Several plank roads have been opened nearby, where you can take a walk. The scenery is good, there are few people and the air is good. Like the Alishan scenic area, there are towering trees.”
