Tucked away in the peaceful enclave of Bandar Botanic in Klang, Dai Jin Dining (大境璞食) is an immersive, fine-dining Chinese omakase restaurant that bridges history and modern gastronomy. Eight years in the making, the establishment transports guests straight into the refined elegance of the Song Dynasty.
The cultural journey begins the moment you step through large wooden doors into a serene courtyard. Before dining in one of five inward-facing pavilions, guests participate in traditional cleansing rituals, including a foot bath and spinning a golden prayer wheel. Inside, the decor draws rich inspiration from the classic Chinese masterpiece painting, Night Revels of Han Xizai, further set by traditional scents and scroll-style menus.
Curated by Director Zhu Yuwei, the pork- and beef-free menu blends ancient Song recipes with Japanese and French influences. Signature dishes resemble edible art, featuring cherry-shaped foie gras, sake-infused abalone, and delicate goldfish-shaped shrimp dumplings served over mist-shrouded bowls. With a heavy focus on seasonal vegetables, sustainable local sourcing, and natural seasoning, Dai Jin offers a highly creative, multi-sensory feast. It is far more than just a meal; it is a tranquil, poetic retreat for the modern palate.
A 10-course experiential set dinner here will set you back RM386++ per person and although I felt the experience, the presentation and food was fabulous, I feel the burn in my pocket. If you have been through this experience, what do you think of it? is it worth the RM386++?

Exploring Klang District? Here’s a quick spotlight on Tian Hock Kung—a.k.a. the famous Snake Temple 🐍, where legend and real vipers mix for a unique Malaysian experience you won’t forget.
Must-See in Klang:
Tian Hock Kung (Snake Temple)
Address: Lot 3115 & 3116, Jalan Siakap, Jln Tepi Sungai, Taman Teluk Pulai, 41100 Klang, Selangor, Malaysia
Opening Hours: 10:00–18:00 (Mon-Tue, Thu-Sun), 10:00–21:30 (Wed)
This isn’t your average temple. Keep your eyes peeled for real live snakes lounging around the altars—major “did that just move?” vibes thanks to centuries-old traditions. The temple vibe is serene, and the staff are cool about answering questions if you’re curious about the stories behind the shrine (pro tip: ask about the temple’s origin myths if you’re into local legends).
Practical Insights:
Bring insect repellent—there’s greenery and water nearby, so mozzies are part of the scene.
Wear shoes that are easy to slip on/off (standard in most Malaysian temples).
Photos of the snakes are welcome, but don’t touch! Respect the creatures—they’re considered spiritually significant.
The temple’s less crowded in the morning on weekdays. If you want a peaceful vibe, aim for an early visit!
Getting Around:
Klang’s easiest to navigate by Grab or taxi. Bus options exist but can be slow—save yourself the sweat for the Snake Temple!
Food rec: Grab some bak kut teh at Teluk Pulai nearby—Klang is famous for it!
Weather: Malaysia is hot and humid year-round—umbrella and water bottle are your best travel buddies.

All aboard for a music lover’s dream! Here’s my PIANOLAND cruise adventure sailing from Klang, Malaysia, to the tropical shores of Phuket, Thailand — think ocean breezes, island vibes, and piano concerts at sea 🎹🚢🌴 The absolute highlight? Live performances every night as the sunset melts into the horizon.
Top Spots & Onboard Fun
🏝️ Departure: Klang, Malaysia
Set sail from Port Klang (Pelabuhan Klang, 42000 Selangor), just an hour from Kuala Lumpur. Check-in is smooth — pro tip: arrive by noon to beat the crowds and have more time to explore the ship.
🎶 The Shows
Expect evening piano recitals in the main theatre (deck location varies per ship – check your cruise daily schedule!). The ambiance is a total mood — bring a sweater for the chilly AC.
🍴 Food Finds
Sample local Malaysian favorites at the buffet on embarkation day — satay and teh tarik are must-tries. Onboard specialty restaurants require reservations, especially for ‘Gala Night’ (think white tablecloths and grand piano tunes).
🏖️ Phuket Stop
The ship docks at Patong Bay, with tender boats taking you straight to the action (plan a quick breakfast, as morning departures are busiest). Head directly to Patong Beach or try Banzaan Market (181 Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road, open noon–9pm) for cheap eats before heading back.
Handy Tips
– Book excursions early, or DIY with a pre-ordered Grab taxi (mobile coverage at port is good).
– Carry Thai baht for snacks and markets; most stalls won’t take cards.
– Use the ship’s shuttle for fuss-free rides back to the tender point.
– Sunblock is a must — Phuket sun is next-level!
Getting Around
All cruise activities are within easy walking distance onboard, while in Phuket, tuk-tuks are easy but always bargain on price. English is widely understood in tourist hotspots.
