Xue Fucheng, a famous thinker, diplomat, politician, writer and representative of the early bourgeois reformists in Wuxi in the late Qing Dynasty, is a large-scale bureaucratic residence of Xue Fucheng, located in the downtown area of Wuxi City, covering an area of 21,000 square meters. Xue Fucheng is good at thinking, diligent in writing and practice, and has made remarkable achievements in domestic and foreign affairs. For this reason, the Qing court awarded a special "Imperial Envoy Di" to praise its historical achievements. Up to now, a gold inscription "Imperial Envoy Di" on the blue background, written by Emperor Guangxu, still hangs above the door of General Xue Fu. Xue Fucheng's former residence was built in 1890 and completed in 1894. There are more than 160 preserved buildings with an area of 6000 square meters. The grand and distinct architectural momentum of the whole group reflects the characteristics of the late Qing Dynasty when the westerly wind moved eastward, filling in the gaps in the history of Chinese architecture, known as the "first luxury house in the south of the Yangtze River". In 2001, it was designated by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
