Yasmina IroOne of the most celebrated temples in Japan, this is a must if you are visiting Kyoto! Associated with one of the oldest schools of buddhism, this wooden temple is a beauty and historic site that must be seen.

Temple
Gautam1really enjoyed our time visiting the temple. There is so much to see at this small location that it is easy to find the time passing quickly. You can visit on your own or with a site guide and learn about the history of this place.I have read in the reviews that some have found it crowded, but with a little planning ahead of time you can avoid the busier times durning the day. Also you an call ahead to see if they have any tours booked that day and if so when.Staff were poliet and very helpful.Even with the cheapest camera you will wind up with beautiful photos.

Gautam1We visited the bamboo forest on a sunny early morning for winter (8 am). It was a quiet walk with few people. The walk to the temple whose name I forgot was very nice. On a sunny day, you can see sun beams coming through the bamboo. It is outside the city of Kyoto, which requires a 30-45 min train ride to arrive. I would recommend going to Kinkaku after the visit to Arashiyama or vice versa, given that both must visit attractions are outside Kyoto and that a bus ride can take you from one to the other.

Historical Architecture
UNESCO World Heritage-Cultural Site
E48***99The palace was not open due to the New Year holidays but the garden was open. Most of the buildings were being renovated anyways so we wouldn’t have been able to go inside. It would be worth visiting in the spring or fall to see the cherry blossoms or the fall colours. It wasn’t crowded and peaceful to walk around.

Temple
檀Z游It is said that there are more than 3 thousand Yawata Jinja shrines in Japan, and the main shrine of Yawata Jinja shrine in Kyoto is about 1500 years old. The ritual activities of the shrine are called Sakuraen Matsuri, and it is called the three major festivals in Japan along with Kanda Matsuri in Tokyo and Tenjin Matsuri in Osaka. We don't know, it looks great. Anyway, the building is beautiful, and the quiet atmosphere is quite good.

Spring is a time of rebirth. A time to cast off winter’s embrace. In Japan, spring heralds the coming cherry blossoms. For what seems like a fleeting instance, cherry trees flower in exquisitely delicate shades of white and pink. The soft colors signal promising times ahead. Some spend their entire lives chasing the bloom, looking for that perfect flower. For travelers aspiring to catch a glimpse of the annual miracle, this short article offers some background and suggests a few places to visit.

Kyoto
Even Tokyo where neon lights cast futuristic shadows and digital billboards advertise the latest gadgets, even there you will find Japan’s classic character. Restaurants with exquisite handwritten menus, kimono-wearing shoppers searching for festival gifts, historic facades tucked amongst steel and glass. All of this comes together to create modern Japan. See where ancient opera still graces the stage, where flower festivals and tea ceremonies are enthusiastically passed down through the generations, and where the new world blends seamlessly into the old.

Kyoto Travel Tips

About Kyoto

Kyoto is an ancient city with over a thousand years of history. Before the Meiji Emperor moved the capital to Tokyo, it was the traditional home of the Japanese royal family. After thousands of years, from legends of ghosts and gods to history and culture, the air and atmosphere in Kyoto is filled with a great mystical charm. When Kyoto was constructed, its street layout and architecture was influenced by the style of Chang’an, and it still retains the same ancient charm. In the Higashiyama District, temples, shrines and altars embody the spiritual side to Kyoto, while the area around Arashiyama carries a classical and elegant atmosphere. No visit to Kyoto would be complete without a taste of traditional delicacies, a stroll along the flowered paths, or a fascinating geisha show.
