Ala Hotel Kyoto

Ala Hotel Kyoto ★★★★

📍 518 Shiokoji-cho, Higashinotoin-dori, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto

"Because our flight arrived late at Kansai, I chose the Almont Hotel which is close to Kyoto Station, and it turned out to be a very wise decision. We arrived at 1 AM, and the underpass from the bus stop through Kyoto Station was already closed, so we had to walk around from outside, which took about ten minutes. There was a young man at the front desk who spoke Chinese, making check-in very easy. The lobby is spacious and comfortable, and the self-service amenities downstairs are very comprehensive – you could say they have everything you need. Compared to the hotel we stayed at later in Osaka, this one was such great value. It might not be the most convenient if you're heading to downtown shopping malls, but I think taking public transport is also very quick. The bus stop for Sanzen-in Temple is less than a ten-minute walk away, and Yodobashi Camera is also super close and walkable. There's a convenience store right opposite, making it super easy to grab double skin milk."

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Kiyomizu Gojo ★★★

📍 391-1 Shiogamacho Shimogyo Ward, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto

A playful Kyoto stay featuring manga-inspired rooms, a central location near Gion and Kiyomizu-dera, and convenient travel amenities.

MR.T Kamogawa East 12

MR.T Kamogawa East 12 ★★★★

📍 656-17 Honkawaracho, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto

"A very good hotel, quite well located and quiet. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The only downside was the fluctuating internet connection during our stay. The welcome was warm with thoughtful touches for the guest. I highly recommend this hotel if you're coming to Kyoto!"

Hotel M's Est Shijo Karasuma
9.3 (295 reviews)

Hotel M's Est Shijo Karasuma ★★★

📍 41 Motoakuojicho, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto

"Amazing location. Clean room. Helpful front desk. Room is on the smaller side for 2 people with big luggages, but for the price, it really is worth it."

Hotel Granvia Kyoto Hotels in Kyoto

Hotel Granvia Kyoto

"Outstanding experience at Hotel Granvia Kyoto. Staying here made our Kyoto trip effortless, especially with the hotel located right above Kyoto Station. Trains, buses and shopping are just steps away, which saved us so much time and energy. The hospitality was excellent. The staff were polite, attentive and very efficient, making us feel welcomed immediately. Check in was smooth and the overall service throughout our stay was consistently professional. The room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable, perfect for resting after a full day of sightseeing. This hotel combines prime location with refined service and comfort. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto. Truly a five star experience."

"The accommodation was very clean and the room was spacious, not cramped at all. The bed was comfortable and it was extremely quiet. The staff were polite and welcoming. Luggage storage was available both before and after check-in. There's a free onsen and it's not far from the train station. I was very impressed."

"The lobby makes a strong first impression with its tasteful, contemporary design—very much in line with what seasoned travelers appreciate after a long journey. Location-wise, the hotel is a solid choice. Being close to the train station and surrounded by local food options made getting around and finding good meals effortless. That said, the 5pm check-in time is noticeably later than usual and can be inconvenient if you arrive early. I passed the time at the restaurant and bar next to the lobby, taking advantage of their Happy Hour, which helped. A nice touch was the self-service luggage storage area—practical and traveler-friendly. I stayed in a corner room. The room itself was fine: clean, functional, and simple, as expected of many Japanese hotels. The view, however, was unremarkable. I also tried the public bath. It was reasonably sized and, thankfully, not too crowded during my visit, making it a relaxing experience. Service was a bit cool at first, though it improved as the stay went on. Overall, I would consider returning, especially when traveling as a couple."

Keio Prelia Hotel Kyoto Karasuma-Gojo Hotels in Kyoto

Keio Prelia Hotel Kyoto Karasuma-Gojo

"The hotel is conveniently located between Gojo and Shijo subway stations, slightly closer to Gojo. However, these two stations are quite close anyway, so walking to either is perfectly acceptable. A taxi to Kyoto Station costs around 2000 JPY. The hotel itself is clean and tidy, and the front desk staff speak fluent English, making communication a breeze. Both check-in and check-out were very efficient. The comfortable twin room features a wet and dry separation in the bathroom, which makes toiletries more convenient and reduces disturbance. The soundproofing of the windows is excellent; you can barely hear any outside noise, though an occasional siren is unavoidable. The room was cleaned daily, and amenities were well-stocked. The only slight letdown was the breakfast; while the quality was good, it was exactly the same for four consecutive days. More variety would have been a definite improvement."

Urban Hotel Kyoto Shijo Premium Hotels in Kyoto

Urban Hotel Kyoto Shijo Premium

"Surrounded by many eateries, convenience store and supermarkets (life) and near train stations. Come with public bath and sauna separated by gender. Only cons is that you can smell cigarettes in the lobby."

HOTEL ELCIENT KYOTO HACHIJOGUCHI Hotels in Kyoto

HOTEL ELCIENT KYOTO HACHIJOGUCHI

"The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, close to Kyoto Station, the bus stop, and Aeon Mall, making shopping excellent. The room was larger than those in Tokyo, and the breakfast was substantial. Definitely recommend!"
