Ala Hotel Kyoto ★★★★

📍 518 Shiokoji-cho, Higashinotoin-dori, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto

"This was my second stay at Hotel Ala, and I still really love the hotel's facilities and service. The location is super convenient, too – Kyoto Station is just about a 10-minute walk away, and there's a 7-Eleven right across the street, perfect for grabbing snacks anytime. The hotel's hot spring was as comfortable as ever. The wet and dry areas in the bathroom are very well separated, and having a sink right above the toilet is a clever design. 👍 Overall, I'm still very satisfied! 😊"

The OneFive Kyoto Shijo
9.1 (859 reviews)

The OneFive Kyoto Shijo ★★★★

📍 535番 Karatsuyacho, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto

"My review may be a bit biased given I was there for six days. In short it does the job if you’re looking for a place to lay your head. The complex is in good condition and the location is decent. There is a confident 7/11 store not far from things"

KIORI Exec Muromachi
9.5 (153 reviews)

KIORI Exec Muromachi ★★★★

📍 577, Takatsujicho, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto

"This newly opened hotel boasts brand-new facilities and a great design. It's about a 6-7 minute walk from the subway, so the transportation is quite convenient. I stayed here for four nights this time and was generally satisfied. 😀"

Hotel Excellence Kyoto Ekimae
8.4 (125 reviews)

Hotel Excellence Kyoto Ekimae ★★★

📍 Kitafudondouchou 519-1, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto

"Good place, easy access, service was good but the guy appears to be angry or annoyed from helping me to do the check in, besides that good place"

Miyako City Kintetsu Kyoto Station
9.1 (1,640 reviews)

Miyako City Kintetsu Kyoto Station ★★★★

📍 1-9 Higashishiokoji Kamadonocho, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto

"The hotel is located right inside the train station, making it extremely convenient. Despite its central location, it was quiet and comfortable. There were plenty of restaurants, shops, and even a UNIQLO right downstairs, so everything we needed was within easy reach. The price was also very reasonable for the location and convenience. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit."

MR.T Kamogawa East 12
9.0 (4 reviews)

MR.T Kamogawa East 12 ★★★★

📍 656-17 Honkawaracho, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto

"A very good hotel, quite well located and quiet. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The only downside was the fluctuating internet connection during our stay. The welcome was warm with thoughtful touches for the guest. I highly recommend this hotel if you're coming to Kyoto!"

The Hedistar Hotel Kyoto Nijo Comic&Books ★★★

Urban Hotel Kyoto Nijo Premium Hotels in Kyoto

Urban Hotel Kyoto Nijo Premium

"I stayed for 4 nights from January 4 to January 8, 2026. From the hotel, you can walk to Nijo Castle in about 10 minutes. There are many small convenience stores nearby (7-Eleven and the like), as well as two large supermarkets — Life is open until midnight, which is a huge plus. You can buy nice gifts for friends and family late in the evening without wasting daytime hours. The transportation access is great too: within a few minutes' walk there's a subway station and a JR line (convenient for coming from the railway station), and right next to the hotel there's a bus stop. This is important because Kyoto's sights are scattered all over the city, and you often need to use public transport or taxis. Speaking of taxis. Twice I asked the reception to call me a taxi, and both times the staff helped me — a huge thank you to them! It was especially important on the first day: thanks to a taxi, I made it to Kiyomizu-dera Temple in time and explored it without rushing. Check-in was very quick, and the staff explained where everything was. The room was quite spacious — or maybe it just felt that way. I comfortably unpacked my suitcase and took out everything I needed without feeling cramped. The room had all the essentials, and there were kettles near the elevator that you could take to your room if needed. I did, and had some tea before bed (on the first floor, you can grab a free tea bag if you don't have your own). The air conditioner worked for both cooling and heating — which was very useful on some evenings. Honestly, I only used the hotel to sleep, and it was perfectly fine. Every morning, breakfast is served on the first floor. To be honest, I expected something simple since the room rate was quite affordable. That's why the breakfast was such a pleasant surprise! My eyes wandered every morning at the variety of delicious food! A huge selection. Every day I had rice with various toppings, amazing salmon, cod, and various vegetables (the okra here was especially good). There's a small smoking room on the first floor with good ventilation. My overall impression of the hotel is extremely positive. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto."

HOTEL TAVINOS Kyoto ★★★
"This hotel offers incredible value for money! I saw some reviews mentioning no windows, but I found that if you pull back the curtain behind the bed, there's a window that allows for ventilation! The location is excellent, with a bus stop right downstairs and the subway not far. It's very close to Sanjusangen-do Temple and convenient for visiting Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine! The hotel is also connected to a 7-Eleven, making it super easy to grab anything you need. In the common areas, there's hot water and a microwave available, and a simple breakfast is provided in the mornings. There were a lot of foreign guests, and the front desk staff spoke good English, giving it a vibe similar to the youth hostels I've stayed at in Europe. I went on a weekday and paid less than 200 for a single room. I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised – the decor and details are adorable! Highly recommend! I'd definitely come back if I have the chance!"

The OneFive Kyoto Shijo ★★★★
"The first impression of the hotel was good, but things went downhill quickly. When I entered my room, I found food stains on the panel behind the bed, long hair on the bathroom floor, and a used toilet with paper still inside. I asked the receptionist for cleaning, but the cleaning staff had already left for the day. He offered me another room, but it had visibly worn-out and broken furniture, damaged doors, and exposed cables. I decided instead to have my original room cleaned the next morning. When the receptionist came to check the room, he walked all over the bathroom and even into the shower with his street shoes. I was shocked and told him I did not want anyone walking with shoes in the bathroom or shower area where I’d be barefoot. His response was dismissive—he insisted it was hotel policy to walk with shoes anywhere in the room. Instead of apologizing, he acted cocky and refused to acknowledge the issue. The location was okay, but overall, the cleanliness and staff attitude were unacceptable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel."

"Lovely hotel with ideal location in KYOTO station. Staff very helpful and welcome drink provided (juice/tea). If getting taxi have the telephone number of your destination as they appear to use this with their sat nav. Shopping mall across the street and lots of eateries in the station. Highly recommend. Activity close by: Maiko Experience at Shiki - highly recommend."
