Tennen Onsen Renka no Yu Onyado Nono Kyoto Shichijo
9.3 (2,350 reviews)

Tennen Onsen Renka no Yu Onyado Nono Kyoto Shichijo ★★★★

📍 491番地 Zaimokuchō, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto

"Facilities: Absolutely loved this Japanese onsen ryokan! Can't believe Kyoto, of all places, has one. You take your shoes off as soon as you enter, and you don't need them anywhere in the hotel, which is incredibly relaxing. The only downside is the restaurant is too small and too crowded; no matter when you go, there's a huge line, which wasn't a great experience. However, the breakfast was excellent. Cleanliness: Inevitable tatami mat smell, but you can open the window, so it's not a big issue. Service: Felt right at home. Environment: A bit of a walk from the JR station, but the experience was really good. I pretty much just stayed in the hotel and didn't feel like going out."

The Hedistar Hotel Kyoto Nijo Comic&Books ★★★
"This is my favourite hotel on our travels around Japan. The room size was a little small but it was fine for a few nights as a base to explore Kyoto. It's walking distance from some great sites like Nijo Castle, the Samurai Ninja museum and the bustling market. The transport links are great and easy to get to most places of interest. Staff were very helpful and even rushed to fetch towels when we came in from the rain. There is no restaurant on site so, breakfast is only a bento box but it was so tasty! And there's a fantastic little cafe/restaurant just down the street (to the right as you leave the hotel) which was lovely for dinner. My only suggestion is that it would be nice to have a larger selection of manga in English or other languages."

Urban Hotel Kyoto Gojo Premium ★★★★
"The hotel was in a very good, central location, just 3 minutes from the bus stop and 14 minutes bus ride from Kyoto station. I booked a 20m twin room with large single beds. However, the room was 12m at the most. I asked the head receptionist about this. I was then offered a larger room at extra cost which I declined. The room was fairly clean with fresh towels provided every day. It was well equipped with a kettle and a small fridge. There was no wardrobe, just 4 hangers to hang clothes on a hook. There was no storage. The soundproofing was good as I could not hear the other guests. There was a washing machine available for 500 yen which was very useful. For breakfast, there was a wide selection of tasty food which I recommend. The spa was nice and free of charge, however there was 1000 yen charge for the gym."
