Kyoto Hotels with Breakfast

After extensive research on various social media and travel apps, I chose this hotel, and my experience far exceeded expectations – it was truly worth it. The airport/station transfer was convenient, and the front desk staff provided excellent service, making me feel right at home. The room was spacious, and all amenities were exceptionally complete. The hotel's location is also superb; it's quiet at night, and various attractions are within walking distance, just across the street from the luxurious Capella. The public bath was a delightful surprise, much cleaner and more professional than many hot spring resorts in China. A soak before bed truly helped me recover and recharge. Regarding some reviews mentioning preferential treatment towards white guests and ***, I didn't experience any of that, except for one odd instance during breakfast where my half-eaten meal was cleared away prematurely. The breakfast selection was incredibly diverse and plentiful. Overall, a fantastic and worthwhile stay!

Our experience at Six Senses Kyoto was truly wonderful. As a new hotel opened in 2024, it exudes an elegant Japanese Zen style, and the public courtyard is particularly photogenic. The room was spacious enough at 42 square meters, and the attention to detail was impeccable. The breakfast selection was rich, offering both local Kyoto flavors and Western options, and the quality of the food was excellent. Its location isn't far from Gion and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, making it very convenient for sightseeing. The only slight downside is that it's a bit of a distance from the subway, so I'd recommend taking a taxi for getting around. The service was meticulous and attentive, making for a very relaxing stay overall, perfect for those looking to slow down and enjoy a holiday.

The hotel's location is fantastic, right across the street from the station. There are drugstores, convenience stores, and chain restaurants with machine-based Chinese ordering nearby. The taxi stand next to the 7-Eleven is very organized. We stayed in a family room, which wasn't small. They did basic cleaning daily and provided water and slippers. Everything is self-service for check-in, check-out, and luggage storage, but there are staff available to help at all times.

I didn't expect to find such a great value hotel during my summer trip. The last time I was in Kyoto was in 2023, and for some reason, hotel prices across the city were generally skyrocketing then. This year, the value for money was truly exceptional, and I was very satisfied with everything, especially meeting Mr. Yang, a Chinese staff member, right after checking in! He was incredibly kind and meticulously explained the hotel's facilities to my friend and me. He even had our luggage placed in our room before we returned. Throughout our stay, he was always responsive to our requests, making for a very smooth interaction and leaving us with an excellent impression. With such a great location and service, there's absolutely nothing to complain about. The washing machine in the room was also a high-end model that I'd be hesitant to buy for my own home; it was almost silent in operation. The only downside was that it took a bit long, sometimes up to five hours for a full cycle, though perhaps I wasn't using it correctly. Nevertheless, the clothes came out very soft and clean. My only regret is that there's a Beams store right across from the nearest subway station to the hotel, and I only discovered it as I was about to leave! It's a shame I didn't get to browse there. I'll definitely choose this hotel again on my next trip to Kyoto, and I'll make sure to visit that Beams store. I hope to see Mr. Yang again if I get the chance. Many thanks!

This is the second time that I’ve booked here because the last time I came everything was satisfactory. The room was really wide compared to other hotels that I’ve been to in Japan. Not just that, the onsen was clean as always and had yuzu inside this time but maybe it’s because it was winter but I couldn’t see it the next day so that was abit sad. The service was great!! You can check out and still ask them to hold the bag. The only downside I could say was that the walls were slightly stained ?? I think it’s due to the luggage being moved around by other individuals. It’s not too the point that it would bother anyone. But it did catch my eye abit.

We stayed here for a family trip over Children's Day in May. Banyan Tree is such a renowned brand even in Korea, so I had high expectations when I booked our stay. However, we were hoping for a mountain view, but instead, we got a cemetery view – and on a dark, rainy night, it was quite enough to give us nightmares. If you're looking for a relaxing experience, like soaking in a Japanese cypress (hinoki) bathtub, you'll be satisfied, but I have to say the view was extremely disappointing. On the positive side, the Japanese tatami room vibe was very pleasing, and the aroma oil program at the spa was really interesting.

We booked a triple room, and with three beds, the room was quite compact, but we could still fit our luggage. The hotel is a bit of a distance from the station, but there are two buses an hour to Kyoto Station, which is very convenient, and the location is easy to find. For breakfast, there are two restaurants to choose from. The Japanese one offers a set meal, so we ate at the Western restaurant all three days, which basically met our needs.

I booked this hotel near Kyoto Station, about a 15-minute train ride from the venue, to watch the fireworks show at Lake Biwa! Needless to say, it's in a superb location, right across from the central ticket gate, past the bus terminal. It was a huge relief not to have to drag my suitcase around in the hot Kyoto summer! After the fireworks, I got a bit lost in the crowded Kyoto Station trying to find the hotel. I asked a volunteer who was helping with crowd control, and they immediately pointed me in the right direction, telling me it was near Kyoto Tower! The room was a bit small, but it had enough depth that I could still open my suitcase without a problem. Plus, there are lockers to store your luggage even after check-out, so you can leave your bags there, enjoy your sightseeing comfortably, and pick them up before heading home. The convenient location and not having to carry my luggage around too much made for a very comfortable stay. I'd definitely like to stay here again next time I visit Kyoto!

The hotel was in a very good, central location, just 3 minutes from the bus stop and 14 minutes bus ride from Kyoto station. I booked a 20m twin room with large single beds. However, the room was 12m at the most. I asked the head receptionist about this. I was then offered a larger room at extra cost which I declined. The room was fairly clean with fresh towels provided every day. It was well equipped with a kettle and a small fridge. There was no wardrobe, just 4 hangers to hang clothes on a hook. There was no storage. The soundproofing was good as I could not hear the other guests. There was a washing machine available for 500 yen which was very useful. For breakfast, there was a wide selection of tasty food which I recommend. The spa was nice and free of charge, however there was 1000 yen charge for the gym.

Kyoto Global Hotel Karasuma definitely has its pros and cons. To be honest, the cleanliness in the guest rooms could use some improvement; the dust in the corners and hair in the bathroom are a bit off-putting. However, beyond that, the value for money is absolutely incredible. The breakfast is a hearty Japanese set meal, and for dinner, you get to choose between a rice or noodle set. All this for a 200-yen room rate, including two meals – I don't know any other place that can beat that! The most impressive part is the large communal bathhouse with a sauna. Soaking in the hot water, which feels just like a natural hot spring, instantly melts away all your travel fatigue. The location is also fantastic; the Karasuma line is just a two- or three-minute walk away, making it convenient to get to Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Arashiyama. If you don't mind a few minor cleanliness issues, this is absolutely the king of value in Kyoto. I'll definitely choose it again next time I'm in town – because a good soak, a full meal, and a good night's sleep are the truest joys of travel.
