When you board the ferry to the outer island, forget about your mobile phone. 📵 Immerse yourself in nature's beauty, feel the sea breeze, listen to the waves, and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Kusu Island, situated 5.6 kilometers south of Singapore in the open sea, is ideal for a day trip as camping is not permitted. 🏝️ The island features the Chinese "Da Bo Gong Temple" and the Malay holy site "Datuk Gong Temple." The temple's Chinese architecture, including red bricks, green tiles, and a pond where turtles are released, adds to its charm. Pilgrims visit to offer money, seek cures, calm the sea, ward off disasters, and pray for children, believing in its effectiveness.
Legend has it that Kusu Island was formed by a giant turtle to rescue two people lost at sea. In gratitude, the duo constructed a temple and a church on the island. 🐢⛪
Kusu Island lacks roads, with winding paths leading to Binhai Dock and St. John's Island. For a smooth trip, take the MRT on the North South Line to Exit B of Binhai Port and purchase a boat ticket on-site or online in advance. 🚢 The ferry departs from Binhai South Ferry Terminal, stopping at St. John's Island before reaching Kusu Island. Remember, the ferry won't return from Kusu Island to St. John's Island. Check Figure 2 for the shipping schedule. 🗺️
Guiyu Island is also a more interesting island in this place. The island has a lot of unique buildings. The visit here is also very good. You can feel many unique styles. The area of the island is quite large.
The area of turtle island birds is not large, but it is very convenient to come by boat. It is enough for a half-day tour here. There are fewer tourists, but whether it is the scenery of the island or the sea view, it is quite good.
Guiyu Island cannot be compared with Sentosa in fame, and its area is much smaller. It is far from the bustling, the natural scenery on the island is very good, the sea is particularly clear, and there are many small shellfish on the beach.
