Miramar Beach Villas

Upon arriving at this motel on Christmas Eve, I could immediately tell it was a bit dated. The lady at the front desk was very nice, (first impressions mean a lot to me!) I know hotel owners are really struggling during this terrible Covid crisis, so ”almost” decided to not leave a review, yet I think it's important for owners to know what their customers think of their experiences. The room was quite small. Two double beds scrunched in. Not pleased to find a few cockroaches crawling around. The hot water in the shower wasn't hot enough. This is the second location I've stayed at a Sleep Inn at and both motels don't have a ”dedicated” door (with a handle) for their tiny restrooms, rather a sliding door that's difficult to navigate. I was told by the front desk lady that due to Covid, there would be no maid service. Again,she was very friendly, and switched out dirty towels for clean no problem. Hopefully, once this pandemic is over with, motels like this will get back to making the necessary improvements to their properties. I'll close by saying ”you get what you pay for.” Though just expected a ”little” more for the $90 per night we paid for the 3 nights.

I really appreciated the light and airy feel of the inside of the hotel. A central skylight runs the length of the ”courtyard” style open center space that houses the restaurant, bar and other common areas. The room, while generous and clean, was on the dark side. This may have been because of the first floor location; a higher floor may be better. The Hilton app presents this hotel as ”having a beach”. Technically, this is correct, but said beach is across the street, across a parking lot and across an access bridge. I estimate it is a good 900 ft/300m walk. Important to know if mobility impaired or trying to get little kids, cooler and equipment to the beach.

Reserved two double queen beds deluxe junior suite rooms beachfront and paid over $1700 for deposit. Get here to check in and the young lady (Kacy) that’s checking us in is telling us that we’re going to have to pay another $1400 for EACH room. Was of course shocked and taken aback to hear that because the total of the reservation when I made it was over 3K and what she was telling us would have made it well over 4K! Don’t know where she was getting her totals, but she was finally able to give us the right totals. Have been to this hotel several times and have never experienced this at check in. When we finally make it to our room(s), was surprised to realize that only one of the rooms is beachfront; the other is partial beach view. This wasn’t a problem because the room was clean and spacious and the view was still pretty (although definitely NOT beachfront)…but why are you charging for two beachfront rooms when there’s only one? So I go back down to the desk to question this. Can’t remember the name of the front desk manager that I spoke with but he was not very helpful. He spent most of the time I spent talking to him trying to convince me that a partial beach view room was actually a beachfront room- no sir…we have been here several times and ALWAYS get beachfront rooms so we know what beachfront rooms are like. This partial view room was actually on the opposite side of the hallway, so not beachfront. Anyway, after going back and forth with him about this for a bit, he finally agreed to let us have another room. Went to view the room and it was beach view, still not what was paid for. So instead of having to move all of our things, we just stayed where we were. I totally understand that there is a wedding and a big conference going on while we’re here and hotel is pretty much at capacity (from what staff said). Don’t understand why they can’t just give our money back since we didn’t get what we paid for. A little disappointing because this has never happened before. We’ll still continue to come here for fall break but I will definitely call ahead and make sure that we will actually get what was booked before we get here. Even though that’s no guarantee because they will just try and convince you that a partial view room is beachfront if they don’t know that you know better.

This resort has beautiful grounds. Beautiful golf courses, a nice looking pool right on the bay. It’s in the heart of the city in the middle of tons of restaurants. However, the vacation rental rooms leave a little to be desired. It was clean, but reeked of bleach. That often makes me think there’s trying to hide something. The furniture and art was basic. But the worst part was the rusty doors, The loads of dust under the beds, the rusty door frames on the balcony door, And the rusty ironing board, even the microwave was extremely stained on the inside. The Dresser had very little room for your clothes. The drawers were tiny. Another thing that was a little annoying, they give you two tiny trash cans and if you’re staying for more than two days or three days, they are going to overflow and you are responsible for taking your own trash Downstairs and outside to the dumpster. They only replace towels Me on your third day and they never make the beds for you. We rented bikes, and they were old and rickety. If you are lucky enough to get a water view from your room, the view is beautiful.

As I approached the hotel I was flabbergasted at how amazing it actually looked in person. Walking in was breathtaking very fancy looked extremely expensive. Greeted and given my room key right away. Just like the main lobby and the outside of the hotel, again presented with a really nice bedroom and bathroom. The king size bed was super comfortable and then there’s the pool, very nice and relaxing. Definitely recommend booking here

With small kitchen (complete), the place smells good and looks clean, is less than 2 miles away from the beach and the outlet. They have free parking and friendly staff. Sandestin seemed to be less crowded than Destin
