I saw a lot of comments saying the location was a bit out of the way. But seriously, is it possible that when they were choosing a spot for the Changsha branch, they just couldn't find a suitable property to rent in Wuyi Square? There aren't many hostels of this size in Changsha that can operate as accommodation and pass fire safety inspections. After careful comparison, they chose the current location. As for people complaining about the front desk service, honestly, they just need to complete basic reception, replies, and have basic etiquette. Don't ask for too much. Their salaries aren't high. If you want great service, just tip them a red packet every time. If you pay enough, they'll break all the glass for you. If you transfer 10,000 every time, you'll see the front desk will serve you so well they'll even usher you out personally! And then there are those clean freaks complaining about hygiene. Honestly, as long as your bed in the room is clean, that's enough. Don't have extra demands. Think about how much you paid to book the room. If you're going to pick nits with a magnifying glass, then no hotel in the world is clean! Even the Four Seasons, Capella, Mandarin Oriental, Shanghai Bulgari, Shanghai Peace Hotel, and Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel suites have hygiene issues; it's unavoidable. If you're going to fuss about these things, you're just living too tiredly. Also, these types of hostels abroad mainly offer cheap accommodation for travelers. Only in China will they spoil you like this. In Japan, you'd be checked out by 10 AM, kicked out. If you complain there, they'll kick you out that day, simply because they have the right not to serve guests who don't follow their rules. The hygiene really isn't a problem. I don't think it's any less clean than an All Seasons or Hanting. As for the bathroom, with people constantly going in and out 24 hours a day, the cleaning staff can't clean it every single time someone uses the toilet. The aunties are earning 3,000 a month, not 30,000. You're paying 50 yuan a night for a hostel, not 5,000 or 50,000. Don't make such a big deal out of it. Instead of fussing over these things, go make more money so you don't have to stay in hostels and can stay in a hotel, then you won't have these problems. Think about how much you paid! It's like some people who book a special offer or carpool and then tell the driver to go faster. Why didn't you just book a private car in the first place? Because you know it's expensive, so you didn't. If you dislike hostels, why do you stay in them? Why not stay in a hotel? Isn't it essentially because you don't have money? If you don't have money, then shut up!
The guy at the front desk was incredibly enthusiastic and thorough. He gave a detailed introduction to Fenghuang Ancient City and even helped us arrange a suitable room, especially since the hotel wasn't fully booked. The common area has a good selection of Shen Congwen's books that you can browse. The location is super central, very close to the river, just down a small alley next to the statue. It's a quiet spot despite being central, so it's not noisy at night. The room cleaning is done by local aunties, so it's not super standardized, but it's perfectly fine for the price. This place offers really great value for money!

Room is really nice for the price, and kept clean, I especially appreciated the large and cozy communal areas (especially the roof top!) The hostel sits in a great location, not far from the Forest Park entrance or the bus stop, and plenty of cheap delicious food spots around. Service was also good, they know everything you need to know about entrance prices, bus schedules and hiking routes.
Only downside for me was that the ”drying service” is just an area on the roof where you can hang up youre clothes, so be aware that if it rains or there is a lot of fog (which happens there quite a lot) your clothes will not dry for a few days.

The location is great, right in the downtown area of Changsha and close to a cool little bar street. The price was fantastic and the owner was really nice. She cleaned the dorms and bathrooms every day and helped with any questions I had.
I was the only one there in the low season and I was made to feel so welcomed. The owner really might be the sweetest woman in town. She was patient with using the translator and all of my random questions trying to get some things ready for the road. I showed up on bicycle and she let me keep it inside. I definitely recommend to anyone passing through. It's simple, the water is hot, the room clean and there is air conditioning. Thank you!

The hostel was pretty quiet, located down a small alley amidst older residential buildings. The front desk staff were decent. However, I absolutely detest the hostel owner. He was often around and incredibly rude to me. One time, I was going in and out of the hostel (I'd done it about ten or fifteen times already) and left the door open a couple of times, even though the AC was on. He was sitting nearby and snapped at me, 'Close the door!' His tone was really off-putting. At the time, I had no idea he was the owner. The next day, he had an issue with my travel companion, then pointed at me and called me ill-mannered, saying he had 'put up with me for a long time.' I asked him why he didn't just tell me to close the door the first few times if it was such a big deal. He retorted, 'You have no manners, do I really need to remind you about something like that?' Then he complained about my belongings being all over the place, but many long-term guests in the hostel weren't exactly tidy either. He seemed to specifically target us students for criticism. Looking back, it still makes me furious.

The front desk service is warm, the rooms are clean and tidy, there are free washing machines and dryers, very good, the network signal is very good, the Internet is fast, and the parking is convenient. Air conditioning and cooling effect is good. It is the best hotel I have ever stayed in.

The desk-lady was really kind and provided a lot of helpful information via wechat upon arrival. Only downsides is the shower is in the same box as the standing poopers, which was a bit nasty not gonna lie. But common enough in China, so I'd still recommend it as a good cheap option--especially upon arrival from airport or sth like that
Location is hard to find because it’s not the right address but as you approach the road go up the first stairs you see then signs will appear. The room was big, the bed was good and comfortable, but the bathroom was terrible. Old and dirty. The room itself was good and seemed clean enough. Host was really nice. Good for one night or two to save money but wouldn’t stay longer. Location is great!

Facilities: Kitchen, pets allowed
Environment: The environment is really great, there is a big big garden
Service: The front desk brother is very talkative, just find him if you have something to do
Hygienic: The room is very clean, the bathroom supplies are fully applied
In summary, this store is very comfortable, as if going home, as unrestrained, occasionally come back here to bring a few days, is a pleasant place

GGuest UserHost is a super nice guy and very helpful. He helps you book your tickets as well as with communication and he has many good tips for you. Usually people hang downstairs, there are also three cute cats. Usually people order food and have dinner together. You will easily meet fellow travelers here. The place is otherwise very basic and could need repairs and more frequent cleanups. But that is not the focus here. The hostel is also close to the starting point to Tianmen mountain.
PS: The package for the avatar mountains has hiked to 450 RMB including cablecars and elevator (you can use the ticket on 4 consecutive days). 12 RMB to take the bus to its south gate. You need two days to finish the avatar mountains. Then one more day for Tianmen mountain. Another day for the canyon, if you want.
AAnonymous UserThis is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in! The host is so unbelievably friendly and kind, and the dinner was so good and I got to meet many travellers staying there too! It is my first time travelling solo and I met amazing people here. The hostel is within walking distance from the forest park’s east gate. There are a few restaurants less than a minute’s walk nearby. The hostel itself is very clean with sheets you can change yourself, as well as having a night light and foldable table. Toilets are shared among the same gender, shampoo and body wash is provided. There’s even a rooftop space for you to hangout at. I highly recommend staying here if you’re a solo traveller as you’ll feel so welcome here!
P.S. you can book tickets through the host as it is discounted as well!

GGuest UserThe service was excellent; they gave us a free room upgrade and even helped plan our travel itinerary. We were also able to get discounted cable car tickets through them. The room was very clean, and breakfast was good. Right downstairs, there's a bustling night market with lots of delicious food, and recently, many popular influencer restaurants have opened up. It's also super close to the East Gate scenic area, just a 5-minute walk away.

GGuest UserI've been to Tongguan Kiln twice before, and this was my first stay. I chose Yueshang Inn after a field trip. The inn is in a great location, convenient for food, accommodation, and entertainment. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the front desk lady and the handsome owner are both very friendly and welcoming. It was a great stay! I'll be back next time!

JJulia BranchThe location of this hotel is excellent—very convenient for accessing the Tianmenshan cableway, which made getting around incredibly easy. The staff were also friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
However, the cleanliness and overall condition of the room were disappointing. The shower could have been much cleaner, and there were noticeable burn holes in the chair. Despite booking a non-smoking room, there was a strong smell of smoke, which made the stay uncomfortable.
Additionally, I found inappropriate business cards in the elevator, which created an uneasy and unprofessional atmosphere.
Overall, while the location and service were strong points, the cleanliness and environment need significant improvement.
