Shizhou Ancient City Site

Shizhou City Site is a national key cultural relics protection unit, I went to the north gate of Park Road and the south gate of Jiefang Road, not far from each other, there is a small exhibition on the south gate wall. Chengmen City Tower is located in the old city of Hexagonal Pavilion in Enshi City. Outside the city is the urban and rural street, and the city is Jiefang Road. It is an important passage to the south of the city when the old time is out of the city.

No sense going there specifically but only if already around visiting few local sightseeings in the town.

Shizhou City is located on Jiefang Road near the Liujiaoting Subdistrict Office in the old city of Enshi City, Hubei Province, and is a key cultural relics protection unit in the country. This is a protective site, mainly for the south gate of the old city and the city building and a small section of the city wall. The city building is a small exhibition hall, mainly showing the changes of the ancient city of Shizhou. There is a duty room at the entrance of the city building, you can contact the security guard to open the door to visit the city wall and the city building. In addition, about 800 meters from the old town site, Park Street, there are also some city walls and Ximen ruins that can be visited together.

After the expansion and maintenance of the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, a large number of masonry and stone were used to strengthen it. For historical reasons, Shizhou City Site only preserves the two city wall sites in the East and North, as well as the West and South City Buildings and City Gates. The watermelon monument outside the city records the story of General Shouqin from the county to plant watermelon here, and people have set up a monument on the spot, commonly known as the "watermelon monument". Watermelon monument is the earliest agricultural record monument in China that has been fully recorded in the discovery period. It is also the only historical physical data in China that supports the introduction of watermelon seeding.
