The Galway Cathedral from outside. It closed when I arrived. But I wouldn’t pay to go inside a church.I find this practice of charging to visit a place of worship unacceptable. It should be called a museum not a Cathedral. P.S. just found out that there is no admission fee to enter this cathedral, a small donation of € 2 is expected.

A brief stop at Dunguaire Castle on the way to the Cliffs of Moher. The castle is located at the shores of the Galway bay on a hilltop with a picturesque view of Kinvara , a fishing village. During the summer months the castle is open to the public , a Medieval banquet is held every night with costumed performers who recite Irish literature and play traditional Irish music. I am not a fan of tour companies and try to avoid taking tours when I can , however since I was in Galway for a short stay it seemed logical to go on an organized tour to cover some of the most sort after places around Galway. The bus driver was also our guide and he filled our ears with lots of history and stories of kings and legends from many centuries past and some relevant present day news . Turns out the driver is a retired schoolteacher , perhaps taught history. Even though the main place of interest was the Cliffs , we stopped at a handful of other worthy places and drove through some picturesque villages.and on the way back stopping at a viewpoint by the coast. The day ended well with a visit to a popular pub listening to live music with my hostel mates.

In addition to being a vibrant city, Galway is also the birthplace of the Irish traditional wedding ring, the Krada ring. Here is a store that has been adhering to the traditional handmade craftsmanship of the Cladda ring since 1750, THOMAS DILLON. This store not only has the display of the Cladda ring in various periods, but also can find some very special designs and materials. If you want to customize your own unique Cladda ring, it is completely OK. It is time to wait.
