About an hour walk from Juniko Station. From the observatory, you can see the white rock surface of tuff exposed to the cliff. It seems that this name was named because it reminiscent of the American Grand Canyon, but its scale is much smaller. You may be disappointed to imagine the magnificent scenery.
I'm impressed by the magnificent scenery that is not Japanese

It was nice to have a surprising view when I finally arrived on the walking course of the Juniko from Oike. I was sweating, but the wind blowing through was very pleasant and I took a break for a while. There is an observatory just a little sideways from the walking course, but there are signs and you can't make a mistake. When I walked around the twelve lakes from Wangchi, I was able to go around in about 12km and 3 in about an hour and a half, so if you have time, I recommend walking all of them ...
It is a U-shaped valley in the Shirakami Mountains. White tuff is eye-catching. The observatory is located about a 15-minute walk from the parking lot near the Hakkei Pond.
I parked my car at the Japan Canyon parking lot and visited. When I started climbing without worrying about the time it took, it was unexpectedly far and uphill. I think it will take more than 20 minutes. In summer, if you don't have water, you may get heat stroke. It is said that it is a valley where white tuffs are exposed due to erosion collapse. There is only a fence at the observatory, and there are no benches. It may be worth it in the sense that it is not often seen elsewhere, but I am tired.
Beautiful colors
It is Japan canyon ... it isn't same as the Grand canyon. It is nice to see this beautiful landscape though! Well ... it can't compare Grand Canyon.
You can't compare it to the Grand Canyon.
