Battery Mountain is located north of Liyumen, also known as Devil's Peak, and has a height of 222 meters. Battery Mountain was once called "Jipo Mountain". Historic "Xin'an County Zhi" records: "Jipo Mountain, southeast of Jiulong Village, strange stone. Xituyu Li Wanrong stationed here to prey on merchant ships. Because the location of Fort Hill overlooks the entrance to the waterway east of Victoria Harbour, it is of important strategic value. In 1898, after the British leased the New Territories (including the present Devil Mountain), a series of defense facilities were built at Devil Mountain, including the Gofu Fort, the Burmese Fort and the Devil Mountain Fort. The Gofu Fort in the hinterland and the lower part (later the current Liyumen stone mine) of the Huadian Cha Fort were built in 1900, with two cannons each; the bunker on the top of the Devil Mountain was built in 1914, with gun holes, trenches, gunpowder warehouses, basements, etc. Due to the adjustment of defense, the two cannons of the Gofu Battalion were moved to Stanley in 1936, and the two cannons of the Huadian Chat Battalion were moved to the Boschal Battalion in Crane Tsui in 1940. At present, there are still many gun beds left in the area. Tourists can reach the Gofu Fort along the Weiyu Xin Path, or walk up the bunker on the trail; and the Burmese Cha Fort can be reached by the mountain trail from Mabei Village in Lei Yumen.
The name "Devil Mountain" is a bit scary, but the military relics on the mountain are very attractive, and the route is also a junior mountain trail, suitable for holiday families to visit here. On the mountain, you can visit the old forts and bunkers, and enjoy the scenery of Lei Yue Mun and Tseung Kwan O. The simplest route is from Yau Tong, which is accessible via the eel gate and the garrison signal path.
Devil's Peak (Chinese: 魔鬼山 | 炮台山) is a peak in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong.[1] The communities of Tiu Keng Leng, Lei Yue Mun and Yau Tong surround this peak.An excellent spot to view the new lam tin TKO cross bay link and the new tunnel. The trial was not difficult to hike and you can enjoy panoramic harbor view of the Kowloon side and the island Victoria Harbour side.
The location of the Devil Mountain Fort goes to the Yuyumen Devil Mountain in Youtang. At present, there are still some leftovers from the history of the Second World War. There are Forts around the fort to install 㗎 screws. You can visit it if you have the opportunity.
