We were there at the beginning of November. The trip along the river with the train is unique and beautiful. The coloring of the arach and ginco tree leaves exceeds all expectations!
Okutsukei, where you can enjoy the beauty of the valley, which is rich in variations of about 3km, is known as a famous place for autumn leaves representing Okayama Prefecture. Unfortunately, the autumn leaves were near the end. I didn't have time, so I didn't walk, so I drove to a place where I could see the pits of Usubuchi. There was a large round hole in the rock, and a stone monument stood at the two holes.
There is a valley along the road leading to Hannyaji Onsen. A mountain stream flows where the giant rocks are sloping, and the beauty of the valley is wonderful. It was the setting for the movie Akitsu Onsen.
I went down the old road from Okutsu Onsen. There is a sidewalk of about 3km along the YOSHII River. The natural pits made of granite are also spectacular. In spring, there are autumn leaves such as kobushi and azaleas, and in autumn, maple, maple and beech can be seen.
If you stand in the direction of looking at the river from the Otsuri Bridge over the YOSHII River, there is a large maple and its bright red autumn leaves are a masterpiece. Also, the valley and autumn leaves are wonderful in the direction from around Otsuri Bridge to the river. You can take a walk on both sides of the mountain stream, but there are many better places to take pictures on the walking path on the right side (towards the river), which is a little bit poorly scaffolded.
