The old British embassy villa is the origin of the international summer resort of ─ Ao Nikko. Sa Dao is a British diplomat, which has a profound impact on the Meiji Rehabilitation in Japan. Sa Dao believes that the nature of Ao Nikko reminds him of his hometown of England, especially the Zhongchan Temple Lake, so he built the villa on the south bank of the lake in 1896 (Meiji 29). The villa later became a British embassy villa and was used until 2008 (Pingcheng 20). After donating to Hemu County in 2010 (Pingcheng 22), on July 1, 2016, the public was opened to visit.
