Pedro II Park was built in 1873 to celebrate the visit of Brazilian Emperor Pedro II. It is Brazil's first urban park and was designed to provide residents with a place for recreation and entertainment. The park's design is inspired by European parks, with extensive lawns, gardens, lakes and walking trails.
