Something off the beaten track.
A little neglected compared with the larger castles as not so many people find their way here. Nevertheless great for a picnic, a break from driving, or just a toilet stop. So-so exhibition in the cas...
Together with Morioka Castle and Aizuwakamatsu Castle, it was called the Tohoku Three Great Castle, but it fell and burned down in the Boshin War. Remains such as heavy stone walls and earthworks are left behind, and the triple turret and castle gates have been restored by wood about 30 years ago. The contrast between the black roof tiles and the white plaster wall is beautiful. It was mid-April, so Yoshino Somei was in full bloom and fantastic.
The ruins of a castle that is one of the 100 famous castles in Japan in Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture. It was counted as one of the three famous stone wall castles in Tohoku, and the powerful stone walls such as the Honmaru Takaishiwaki and the fallen stone walls were very good! The triple turret is also a highlight and it is very beautiful and nice! You can climb to the top. The scenery is a little difficult to see from above, but he can overlook the city a little. If you come to Shirakawa City, this is a spot you definitely want to stop by!
The day I visited was just the day when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Compared to Tokyo, it was less crowded and I was able to relax and see the cherry blossoms. The castle tower itself is small, but it is made of wood and has been restored with reference to the picture drawing, which is irresistible for castle lovers. The territory remains beautiful and is preserved, so I was satisfied even if castle lovers came.
