Welcome stop on a hot day.
Nothing much here. Just an old house that you are welcome to come into and sit down on a hot or rainy day, and pass a few minutes to contemplate how the average Japanese family used to live.

If you turn the corner of the bank from the direction of Uchikoza, you will see the townscape of Uchiko, such as a brewing company and a Japanese candle shop. The first thing I meet there is the Machiya Museum. In the preservation district where many buildings in the Meiji period were restored, the merchant house was restored in the old Kansei era. Considering from now on, it is a simple business and life (doma and 2 floor living space), but it is a building where you can understand the structure of a shop that can open the road side well. Admission is free and there is a public toilet, so it can be used as a resting place.
This building is used to show the lifestyle of the townhouses of the Edo period, which seems to have been built in 1793. Immediately after entering, the business room was reproduced as a merchant house, and the tatami room was prepared with tea bowls placed on the set, so you can feel the life of the time.
It's in the middle of the slope where you feel like a short break. I feel a feeling of openness in the wide open frontage. You can see the state of the townhouse.
