Up to the abbey
Other than say it offers great views whilst climbing from the town to the abbey there is not much more you can say. Suggest you take your time climbing
What can you say other than it’s some steps. They are slippery when wet. View was good going down, found the more direct route to the Abby car park better going up.
I wasn't sure I would make 199 steps as 78 at the station going to work kills me. But no worries I reckon the clean air here helps and also the steps are no too deep so no pressure on your knees. Well...
The steps weren’t too steep which made them quite easy, and there is a hand rail to hold onto. The view of the harbour and town is amazing, especially when it is lit up after dark.
199 steps in a gale force wind but we did it. The views are amazing over Whitby so don’t forget your camera. There are seats along the steps to stop and rest but worth it.
