Grassy Lake in Canmore. Most of the famous lakes are located in Banff, but there is one famous lake in Canmore. That is Grassy Lake! It is a lake with a different color from the emerald lakes in Banff. It takes about an hour to walk up from the parking lot to see it.

Canmore, located right next to Banff National Park! Similar to Banff, it is surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, but since it is not a national park, you can do activities that you cannot do in Banff. It is also where I lived and it is a tourist destination, but it is not crowded, so you can enjoy leisurely time.

Glistening Gem of Canmore: Grassi Lakes 🏞️✨
Prepare to be spellbound by the sparkling turquoise waters of Grassi Lakes—where epic mountain views, lush forests, and crystal-clear lakes form the ultimate nature escape! Whether you’re hiking, snapping pictures, or just soaking in the vibes, this spot is pure magic.
🗺️ Recommended Route:
Start at the trailhead on Ken Richie Way in Canmore. Take the “more difficult” route for stunning views over Canmore and the lakes below—especially scenic on sunny days when the water glows emerald-blue. The trail is about 4 km, easy for most and close to town!
🌲 Must-Do Experience:
Reach the lakeside and linger awhile. Find a quiet spot and channel your own inspiration—just like my moment gazing out at the snow-capped peaks reflected in the serene water.
📷 Insta-Worthy Angle:
For epic shots, stand at the edge of the upper lake with the mountains towering behind you. Capture the water’s intense color and surrounding forest—sunny days bring out the most vivid hues in both water and sky!
🧡 Tips:
Arrive early to beat the crowds and catch peaceful morning reflections. Pack water and wear sturdy shoes—the “more difficult” path is steeper but totally worth it. Don’t forget sunscreen; the open areas get bright.
⚠️ Key Precautions:
Be mindful—the lakeshore rocks are slippery, and trails can be muddy in spring. Respect local wildlife and keep noise to a minimum for the best experience.
