New Plymouth, a city on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island, is not only the capital of Tananaqi Province, but also the only seaport city on the west coast. It is a sister city with Kunming in my country and Mishima in Japan, sharing the bond of culture and friendship.
🌈 Attractions
Mount Egmont, known as the most perfect volcano in New Zealand, stands proudly at an altitude of 2,518 meters. It is surrounded by a vast plain. No matter from which angle you look, you can feel the visual shock as if you are under Mount Fuji. Mount Egmont has a history of 120,000 years, and the last eruption was in 1775. Volcanologists believe that it is currently in a "dormant" state, not dead, which makes it full of mystery and expectations.
🌋 History and Culture
The legend of Mount Egmont is equally fascinating. Legend has it that Mount Taranaki was once part of the Tongariro volcanic group, but was discovered by Tongariro when it was having a tryst with Tongariro's lover, the Pihanga volcano on Lake Taupo. Mount Taranaki fled south in shame, leaving behind the scar of the Wanganui River. From then on, it guarded the land alone, as if hiding its sadness in a cloud of tears.
🕒 Scenic Area Opening Hours
The Mount Egmont Scenic Area is open all year round. Even in summer, visitors can enjoy the snow on the top of the mountain and experience the changes of the four seasons.
🚶♂️ Route Recommendation
It is recommended to start from the Mangorei Track Trailhead and climb along the Pouakai Track and Tarn. This path has both gentle sections and 45-degree steep stairs. When you see the Pouakai Hut, it means you are about to reach the top of the mountain, and the view there will make your hard climb worthwhile.

At Pukekura Park, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re strolling through the botanic gardens, hitting the fitness track, taking your pup for a walk along dramatic tree-lined pathways, or enjoying a picnic with family and friends.There's also a tea house where you can enjoy some nice food & drinks.
