|0.19km from city centreMy daughter and I stayed in a twin room for a night while we visited York University. The Hotel staff were warm and welcoming. They were kind and helpful and more than happy to let us leave our luggage there as we were too early for check in. The main lobby area is just like it looks in the photos. There is comfortable seating, a bar and a place to get food. The rooms are clean, comfortable and feel new. The whole place felt modern and fresh. It was a 15minute taxi ride from the station and a 5/6 minute walk to The Shambles area in York where there are loads of restaurants and cafes. I literally have nothing bad to say about it. We will be back to stay again hopefully in September.

It is best to arrive at the hotel before 7 pm, otherwise the door will be closed. Find the staff in charge of breakfast, you can have laundry service, 5 pounds. The nearby supermarket is very convenient and the room is spacious. The light is very good and I saw the fire cloud. The room was clean and stylish, offering a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. One of the biggest advantages was the hotel’s convenient location. York is a compact city, and from the hotel, it was easy to walk to the city centre. This made it incredibly convenient to return to the hotel for a short rest before heading out again.
The complimentary coffee and croissants provided were not only delicious but also very convenient, especially for a quick breakfast or snack. Additionally, the staff at the front desk were exceptionally friendly and responsive, promptly addressing any questions or requests I had.
That said, there were a couple of minor inconveniences. The laundry facilities seemed poorly maintained, which might be an issue for longer stays, though it wasn’t a significant problem for my two-night visit. Another issue was that all the power in the room was controlled by the keycard, and alternative cards couldn’t be used. This meant that every time I left the room, all power, including charging devices or heating, was turned off. It was a bit inconvenient, especially during colder weather.
Overall, despite these minor drawbacks, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel for its excellent location, clean rooms, and helpful staff.

Although not in the city, York is really small. It takes only 20 minutes to walk to the central scenic spot with the children and take a taxi for about 5 pounds. Very recommended.

|1.75km from city centreIt's really great! I knew before booking that the hotel was run by a Chinese owner, but after arriving, I was able to communicate with my mother tongue about the journey. This feeling is really wonderful. The owner is still an alumnus! We arrived earlier than the check-in time and wanted to put down our luggage first, but the room was already cleaned, so we were arranged to check in early! Then the owner was very patient to draw a map and recommend tourist spots and restaurants. After checking in, I found that although this hotel is not a traditional luxury hotel, I can feel the intention of the operator. For example, the noise reduction and sound insulation of the entire hotel are very good, just like the iron frame stairs at the back door, which is very considerately covered with plastic mats to greatly reduce the noise of the iron stairs. There is basically no creaking sound of the traditional British house floor when walking in the room, so there is no need to worry about affecting the guests downstairs. I especially recommend everyone to book breakfast! See the photos for details! It's really very rich! In addition, it is also very convenient to travel! There is a small path from the train station parking lot that can pass through the hotel. It takes 5-6 minutes to walk quickly without luggage. It takes about 8-10 minutes to drag large luggage. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel that takes you directly to the cathedral. I hope I can return to York and stay here again if I have the chance.

However, there is need to improve where dinner is served as it is just like in the reception area with chairs and tables not meant for dinner. No one waited for more than 10 minutes. Others were waiting. There was no elevator. I helped to get it up (4th floor) Check out and wait for no one to hang down by themselves. It took a long time for someone to check out. Living in the attic is a bit cold. The quilt is not warm enough. The spare parts are good.

We had a mini fridge with water and milk in, tea coffee facilities etc. iron, hairdryer. Unfortunately we didn’t think the beds or pillows were very comfy. Very large bed but it was 2 beds put together and me and my partner could feel the gap between the beds! Not what we expected.
The venue is absolutely stunning! We had the best time. All staff were friendly polite and welcoming.
The food was excellent. We had pork/chicken/beef over 2 courses then a cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Absolutely delicious!

But after checking my bank account the day after I noticed the hotel had taken £50.00 from my account.
When I called to check, I was told it was a deposit to protect against damage to the room.
I was not made aware this was being taken and did not give any authority for them to take the payment.
I found this very concerning and I now have to wait a few days to receive the refund.
So please be warned before booking..

Though it is an old hotel, it is not outdated at all and makes you feel good. The location is prime and there are lots of restaurants nearby and it only take a few minutes to walk to different attractions in York.
