I’m not sure how this hotel has managed to be accredited as a 5 star hotel? It may well have been of a 5 star standard a few decades ago! The hotel is very tired and run down. It’s in desperate need of redevelopment. Towels on internal stairs to soak up the rain leaking through closed windows, paint flaking on balconies, tired furniture, the activities around the walking /jogging track poorly maintained, generally looking run down. We decided to eat in the Grill restaurant. The food and service were good. During the meal there was a diner who was on his phone having conversations with another person with his phone on loud speaker, playing music & watching clips. All on loud! In any restaurant this kind of behaviour from a fellow diner would be classed as rude and inconsiderate. We asked a member of the waiting staff if they would kindly ask the gentleman to refrain from using his phone in the restaurant in this way. We were told that the staff member could not tell him to stop as he was the owner of the hotel! From the response this kind of complaint from a guest wasn’t unusual and had obviously happened before. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel or return there.

A nice hotel golf resort stay. We stayed for 3 nights and 3 rounds of golf, the course is well cared for and has some nice holes to it. The hotel is nice but the rooms don’t have a whole lot storage for suitcase, golf shoes, or travel bag. Breakfast was lovely and was a nice addition to the stay.

So impressed with the Hotel and its Staff. We took our 10 month year old with us on his first holiday and the Hotel accommodated for all of us. The food was excellent at both the morning breakfast buffet and me and my wife also ate at The Grill and really enjoyed our meal. There was also a fantastic Halloween style Buffet that the staff at the Hotel had put a lot of effort into making everyone enjoy their evening. The best thing about the Hotel is its hardworking and kind staff. A special shout out to Asad, who was so kind and attentive to our family.

Just back from another golf trip to Penina. This year and last I read terrible reviews about the course and the hotel being tired. For the second year running we found the championship course in good condition a few bare patches off the fairways but fairways and greens were excellent. Admittedly I think there had been some rain in the weeks leading up to our visit but it was fine. The hotel is excellent. Whilst more traditional in style rather than modern, it’s clean and tidy and very nice. Breakfasts are great as is the food in the golf bar.

Spent ten days at Penina, play much golf on Sir Henry Cotton. The greens where great, fairways have seen better days but are ok. The staff is very friendly and the service great. Room was small but we did not come here to stay in the room. We came to play golf and we did.
