Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

My wife and me stayed in the resort from 24/02/24 to 26/02/24 during our long African Safari Programme and enjoyed the resort to our fullest satisfaction. The ambiance and all the staff members were so nice in their behaviour and attitude. Specially the evening tea/coffee session at the lobby end was so enjoyable. The gift shop at the resort also has good collection and we collected some of our mementoes from there. hope to visit again. My many many thanks to Mufasa Tours and Travels for getting me the resort and providing me a great Guide and Safari Driver Mr. Collins who has the extremely good knowledge of all the intricacies and details of all the National Parks in Kenya
Ol Tukai Lodge Amboseli

I got the distinct impression that in Amboseli, there aren't many places to stay so Ol Tukai doesn't try as hard as most of the other places we stayed at on our safari. The room wasn't as clean, and the quality of the food wasn't as good. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad and if I hadn't stayed anywhere else, I would have just chalked it up to being in the bush in East Africa. But after staying places like Sarova Lion Hill, Oldeani Mountain Lodge and even Embalaki which was a lot more ”primitive” feel, Ol Tukai didn't compete with any of them. Our room was ok. The biggest issue is that with no A/C, it can get warm in the afternoons. That's true with a lot of places but most have a ceiling fan. Ol Tukai did too. But it was mounted so high on the vaulted ceiling that, even on ”high”, we could barely feel it moving any air. And it wasn't over the beds. But fortunately, when we were there, it cooled down at night, so we weren't uncomfortable sleeping. The food was ok. Lots of it with a good variety and again, if this was the only place we'd gone, I'd probably have thought nothing of it. But we had such good quality and selections at other places, Ol Tukai's chef(s) need to step up their game in the kitchen. But I also should note that the waitress we had at the table reserved for our group while we stayed there was wonderful as were all of the staff we dealt with. There is an electric fence around the property. But monkeys still get on the grounds so it's very important to keep the door to your hut closed and they warn you to not carry food on the way to or from your room because the monkeys will take it. But apparently, it's not just food but anything that the monkeys think might be food. My wife had bought a sealed bag of coffee and had it in a paper bag and was walking back to our room and a monkey thought it looked enough like a potential meal that it jumped her and tried to get the coffee. She valiantly defended her purchase, but the monkey had bitten through the paper bag and the coffee. She went back to the gift shop to get it replaced and the lady was very nice and offered to tape over the teeth holes in the coffee! LOL! My wife told her that she wasn't comfortable with that since the monkey had actually broken the bag with its teeth. The lady said she didn't have the authority to replace it, but she called someone and got approval to do so. Our joke was that we bet that bag of coffee got taped and put back on the shelf for some other unsuspecting tourist. After that, we checked every food item we bought to ensure that it was sealed, and the packaging hadn't been compromised and/or repaired. The other thing to know about it that since Ol Tukai is in a marshland environment, there are bug. It's not bad most of the time but at the lodge, when trying to have a drink at the bar it was terrible. The bar area and tables are open air. And apparently the crickets and water bugs are attracted to the light, so we were getting hit by the bugs, they wer

The reservation is successful, the payment is made, and when I arrive at the front desk, I say that there is no such order, and Ctrip's check-in list also says no. Do you think I can't afford it? Front desk service is too unprofessional
