So a homeless man made his way into the hostel and into our room helping himself to someone’s bed before taking a …. / defacating in the bed and vomiting all over the room destroying all the guests stay, I have video recorded the unsafe entrance and the incident. The night staff are saying only the manager can refund me, I’m in the reception waiting a refund Anne Marie Amsterdam DO NOT SUPPORT

This was a great hostel for us, it is very centrally located and perfect for our stay in Amsterdam!! You are a short tram away from the museums, and other major attractions. It is a great place to stay especially for the price. They don’t have lockers but they have a safe and it is an easy system to use to store your valuables.

Appallingly rude welcome displaying thinly veiled anti-tourist sentiment, with the dodgy addition that full payment has to be made by cash-only, falsely advertised the rooms, wafer thin mattresses, and moth-eaten rags as 'towels'. There is literally zero reason to go here and every reason to avoid; however cheap it is: Do. Not. Go.

Arrived at the hostel and I had a really bad gut feeling. They refused card payment and sent us to an ATM to pay for the rest of our stay. Staff were very cold and odd. Got to the room, 5 bunk bed, 3 beds high in a small room with no aircon or fan and a tiny locker to store your stuff. There was one tiny toilet/shower room (which was dirty) between these 15 people. When you showered you were basically standing on the toilet. One sink the bedroom. I slept here one night and every time people entered the room, the entire bunk bed shook. No where private to get changed so had weird men watching you. Was absolutely boiling over night and had to sleep in the bunk with my bag as there was nowhere to put them. Ended up leaving and booking a different hostel as I was dreading going back there to sleep. Overall, bad vibes, bad facilities and so so claustrophobic. PLEASE save yourself the money and book elsewhere. Female traveller, 23yrs, stayed in 10+ hostels before.

We booked this to stay in Amsterdam for 3 nights. We arrived off the train and walked the hour to get here from the station. Upon checking in we received a huge bill which was larger than expected, which was due to the new tourist tax in Amsterdam. As far as we could tell not many other restaurants and shops were charging us a higher rate and assumed that this place just really hated tourists. In terms of our stay, we were lucky to have good roommates who were quiet and discreet in our room of 21. The shower and toilet facilities were pretty disgusting and the bedding of one of my mates was covered in stains. They also advertise a free breakfast, it’s just tea and coffee which is hardly a breakfast. For the price we are paying the service is crap, it doesn’t feel safe and we have no privacy. To keep our bags secure during the day we had to purchase lockers which made changing and grabbing stuff from our bags difficult. Do not come here.

In terms of a place to stay, it ticks all the boxes. The hygiene on the other hand is another story, apart from the fact we were moved rooms whilst out of the hostel, loosing a pair of PJ’s and a fleece in the process and not informed untill we came stumbling in at 0400 our new room had a genuine villain in it. When we awoke at 1000 the next day we found that one of our lovely room mates had Pooed, yes POOED 💩 on the floor of our room before making a quick exit. Not just the floor the door handle and sink. Once we escaped the room we informed the staff who were less than surprised. Still got the deposit back so 10/10 for customer service. Overall not a bad place to stay a bit far away from the centre so is an absolute trek to get back if you can’t obtain a taxi. Beds are comfy enough and showers do the job.

The worst conditions I have ever come across. I do not understand how this place is running. My boyfriend and I ( from Australia) checked in on the 31st of July and were planning to stay for 3 nights. We paid cash upfront and were assisted by the staff with a key and directions. (Total amount coming to $306 euros, coming to approximately $512 AUD.) Upon reaching our room, we searched for our bed numbers- only to find other people’s belongings on the beds given to us. Some of the other female guests who were Italian explained that the bed numbers on the hostel card don’t correspond to which bed you sleep in and they were told to choose any free bed too. A staff member came in to assist us with our concerns that someone is sleeping in our specific beds we had paid for. They told us to sleep in another two beds. The state of the room and beds were not to the expectations. The beds we were given to use were also unclean with stains on the bed (see attached picture). When this was brought up with the front desk they gave us blankets for us to change the bedding ourselves. The staff had no idea who was staying in this room and if the beds were in use. This made us feel very unsafe and unclean. I did not feel comfortable staying in a place where the staff didn’t know the guests staying in there and where the bed sheets and room standards were so poor. We immediately spoke to the staff at reception and told them of our concerns. Following this we booked another hotel (for the same price and beautiful private room), last minute and left. Staff told us that management would be able to assist us in receiving a refund (even though we paid in cash?) Still awaiting to hear back from management regarding a refund. Heard nothing. Take it from me, if you want to enjoy your stay in Amsterdam, don’t torture yourself and stay here.
