📍 Gharb Sohail Village, Aswan

"I had a wonderful guesthouse experience in Nubian Village, Egypt 🇪🇬. When I first contacted the owner, I was surprised by how good his English was! Seeing other guests' comments about their hospitality and clean rooms, I decided to take advantage of a special offer and try it out. The free breakfast was a feast! The mashed baked potatoes mixed with salty cheese, plus a boiled egg, were unexpectedly delicious. Eating breakfast, which was included in the room rate, in the restaurant with its local ambiance was just fantastic. If you're looking to escape life and experience something new in an unfamiliar place, the affordable rent here makes it a great choice. It was hot outside during the day, but the indoors were quite comfortable. The restaurant was perfectly pleasant with just fans. If you book an excursion, the tour company will arrange a tuk-tuk to pick you up, no extra charge. When I left, the owner helped me call a taxi to the airport for $10 USD. I also paid 400 EGP for a fish tagine set meal and black coffee. Everything was truly perfect."

"We had a wonderful stay at the Ekadolli Nubian guesthouse. As we had to leave early, the host kindly prepared a take-away breakfast, which was very thoughtful. During our stay, we were also taken on a free tour of the Nubian village, giving us a great insight into local life and culture. We even had the chance to see crocodiles, which made the experience truly unique and memorable. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and we felt well looked after throughout our stay. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic Nubian experience."

📍 جزيرة، جزيرة اسوان -Elephantine island -beachfront -one minutes from public ferry aswan- Elephantine island, Aswan

"Location of the hotel: Cross the island from the boat dock near KFC on the riverside main street, Corniche (EGP 10 per person, EGP 60 per person at night), go up the stairs and the blue door on the right is the entrance. The owner is not usually at the hotel, so be sure to let him know your arrival time in advance. Facilities: Air conditioner, hair dryer, shampoo, body soap, shared refrigerator, shared kettle, washing machine (USD 4 per use) It's a bit of a hassle to cross the river, but it's perfect for those who want to stay quietly away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The owner treated us to mango juice from his mango field. It was very rich and delicious. He also gave us a handmade necklace made by his daughter. We stayed for three days, but the room was not cleaned, and towels were replaced by contacting them every time. The neighbors were friendly and called out to us. A Nubian girl told us, "I like Japanese anime.""

"The hotel is located on Elephantine Island. Accessible by boat. Abu met us and took us by boat. He also met us in the evening after our walk. He packed a good lunch box in Abu Simbel. The room was nice, everything was clean and tidy, the beds were comfortable, and the shower had good pressure. Abu was very welcoming and would be happy to help with any questions."

"This small hotel is located in a small village. We went there in February. It was dry and cold. The air conditioner can only cool. The wind from the door is very strong. The panoramic room has a balcony on one side, which is even colder. Sara at the front desk is more professional. You can ask her if you need anything, but she starts work at 10 am. The one in charge of the bar is very unreliable. The kettle for hot water we were served was not washed. The kettle that had milk in it made the water all mushy. The food hygiene is completely unreliable. He also forced us to sell two bottles of water. We didn't order them, but he gave them to us directly, so we thought they were for breakfast. Finally, he showed us the price list and asked us for money. I said you didn't tell us, and he said you didn't ask. The first stop in Aswan has a very bad impression!"

"We ate there one day during our trip to Egypt, and the experience couldn't have been better. The restaurant is charming, but above all, it boasts magical views of the Philae Temple. What's more, the food is exquisite. They prepare everything in clay pots cooked over embers, which gives it a spectacular touch. Since we were in a group, we had a set menu, and for the first course, they served us a kind of cold ratatouille, followed by meat, chicken, or fish with tomato sauce, all cooked in those clay pots and served with white rice. We all ordered meat, and wow, it was incredible! For dessert, they served a kind of rice pudding that was also delicious, but the portions were so large that most of us barely had a taste. Almost without a doubt, it was the best meal of the entire trip. If you have the time, you absolutely must go and return by boat; it's a magical and unmissable place."

"My accommodation, the terrace on Elephantine Island, was in an excellent location, very quiet, and the room was very clean. The staff were friendly. From the terrace, you could see the Nile River and the sailboats gliding smoothly on the river, as well as the sunrise bringing life anew. I thank Mohamed, the owner, and the staff for their hospitality."

"On our check-in day, we set off early in the morning and drove from Cairo to Aswan. After checking into the hotel, we had originally planned to have dinner at King Jamaica, but we were too tired to eat, so we opted for dinner at the hotel (our first meal of the day). The hotel dinner was quite expensive. I ordered salmon, but after taking a bite of the diced carrots on the side, I immediately vomited it because it had a sour smell. My boyfriend ordered steak, and that evening, we both suffered from stomach discomfort and diarrhea. My boyfriend ran a high fever the next day, forcing us to cancel our entire trip and stay in the hotel. We called the hotel to explain the situation and requested a thermometer and four bottles of mineral water. When the thermometer arrived, the waiter waited outside for us to return it after we used it. The restaurant waiter also brought the bill when he delivered the four bottles of water. I couldn't help but ask if the hotel had fever-reducing medicine, so they gave us two Panadol tablets. Beyond that, they offered no further explanation, simply saying that the food might have gone bad due to the heat, and that the stay was a poor experience. The waiter, Mostafa, was very warm and friendly, with a contagious smile and thoughtfulness. We left him a tip."

"Everything was perfect, from our arrival to our departure. The hotel is magnificent, the decor is exquisite, and the infinity pool is huge with a view of the Nile. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. We were even able to visit Agatha Christie's famous suite and the presidential suite, a special thank you to the young woman who gave us the tour, unfortunately, I didn't catch her name. We had an excellent stay and wished we could have stayed longer – maybe next time! Thank you for your warm welcome, kindness, and all your thoughtful touches. 😍"

"The rooms weren't as good as Atour or Ji Hotel, and at 1300 RMB a night, it was definitely a bit pricey! I stayed for two days. The hotel is a short walk from the Nubian Museum, and a short walk further down is the Old Falls, making the location very convenient. There's a Carrefour supermarket opposite the Old Falls, and a pretty good Chinese restaurant across from Carrefour. Waking up in the morning and opening the curtains to see the Nile River was quite breathtaking. The breakfast was so-so, but there's not much good food in Egypt, so I guess breakfast is included if it's included. 😂"

"Pros The hotel facilities were absolutely beautiful with an amazing view. Traditional Nubian style house. Every corner makes you want to capture the space. We had a rocky start but the hotel staff tried to redeem themselves. We lost an apple watch which the hotel helped us get back ASAP before we reached Luxor. We are grateful for this. Cons Awful communication and hospitality. We were the only guests in the entire resort because of low season but still received shitty service. The hotel is in a secluded place making it difficult to reach. It’s on top of a mountain on a dusty rocky road. The hotel offers a tuktuk. We did our research prior and contacted the hotel to arrange getting to the hotel from the village and check in since we knew we’d land in the AMs. We were ignored. We arrived at the village meeting point at 1:45 but only ended up getting to our rooms around 3:50am because reaching the hotel via call and WhatsApp was so difficult. The staff had no sense of urgency. We were frustrated and anxious in this wellness resort. Our taxi driver refused to take us up the mountain and the tuktuk refused to take us because of our many bags (which is understandable). I’m very disappointed in the service and I know the staff has lots of potential to improve on their service delivery. The hotel needs to be more cognisant of their customer service and guests hospitality. Staying here was stressful. Recommended if you want aesthetic vibes,a beautiful picturesque hotel with good breakfast. Don’t recommend if you prioritise great guest services, comfortability and peace."

"This is a highly recommended hotel who wish to spend their free time in the heart of the Nubian village. It is located very close to the bustling tourist street market and is on close proximity to the Nile river at the west bank of Aswan. I would say a stay at this place would give one an entry point to African culture. The food served in the hotel's restaurant is very tasty and I vouch for their chicken stew which is one of the most tender chicken I ever had. The room is spacious, well maintained, got a private balcony overlooking the Nile river at one end and the front porch overlooks the central campfire area. A swimming pool is currently under construction and once it is ready one can take a dip both at the pool and in the river Nile. They have add on paid services like massages and aroma therapy, just in case if anyone is interested"

"Wonderful, friendly service at a very reasonable price. A beautiful location with a beautiful view. The only downside is that you do have to walk to access downtown, which isn’t *too* big a problem unless you come in the middle of summer when it’s scorching hot and walking anywhere will drain you of energy very quickly! I absolutely recommend staying here and if I return to Aswan, I will almost certainly stay at this hotel."

"We had a wonderful stay at Ekadolli Nubian Guesthouse in Aswan and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Nubian experience. The hospitality was incredibly warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. Everyone greeted us with genuine smiles and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The atmosphere was so comfortable and caring that it truly felt like a home away from home. The food was absolutely delicious, with every meal freshly prepared and full of flavor. One of the highlights of our trip was the tour to the Nubian Village, where we learned about Nubian culture, traditions and crocodile breeding. Our guide was knowledgeable, patient, and happy to answer every question we had, making the experience both enjoyable and educational. We noticed that some reviews mention the location as a downside. For us, however, it was not a problem at all. We were always able to arrange transportation whenever needed. While the cost of hiring drivers was slightly higher than what we experienced elsewhere, the convenience and overall experience more than made up for it. What truly sets this place apart is the people. Their kindness, hospitality, and constant willingness to help created a memorable experience that we will never forget. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with our stay. Thank you to everyone at Ekadolli Nubian Guesthouse for making our time in Aswan so special. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Aswan."

"The homestay is located next to the Elephant Island Pier, and you can walk there as soon as you get off the boat. The transportation is convenient. The sanitary conditions are very good, the room is clean and tidy, and there are hair dryers, shower gel and shampoo. There is a small living room on the first floor for rest and tea. The boss is very nice. He took the initiative to contact us and came to the pier to greet us and help with the luggage. He made fruit tea for us, and on the second night he sent us freshly squeezed mango juice and a bracelet made by his daughter. The English is very good and we can communicate smoothly. If I come to Aswan again, I will stay here again."

"I loved Abu’s guesthouse, Abu himself would organize anything I needed during the stay, short trips, taxis, boats even in the night! He even made me his own organically grown moringa tea! The whole guesthouse is very clean, nice and Abu really puts all his money back into the house to make it better all the time! He has a beautiful sauna, and he can also organize for you sand sauna (which I would definitely recommend). Abu is a local, grew up on the island, and he is a great person to talk with about many interesting things. He can recommend to you what you could do while in Aswan. Abu simply makes you feel at home"
