"I had a wonderful guesthouse experience in Nubian Village, Egypt 🇪🇬. When I first contacted the owner, I was surprised by how good his English was! Seeing other guests' comments about their hospitality and clean rooms, I decided to take advantage of a special offer and try it out. The free breakfast was a feast! The mashed baked potatoes mixed with salty cheese, plus a boiled egg, were unexpectedly delicious. Eating breakfast, which was included in the room rate, in the restaurant with its local ambiance was just fantastic. If you're looking to escape life and experience something new in an unfamiliar place, the affordable rent here makes it a great choice. It was hot outside during the day, but the indoors were quite comfortable. The restaurant was perfectly pleasant with just fans. If you book an excursion, the tour company will arrange a tuk-tuk to pick you up, no extra charge. When I left, the owner helped me call a taxi to the airport for $10 USD. I also paid 400 EGP for a fish tagine set meal and black coffee. Everything was truly perfect."

📍 3VFJ+887, Sheyakhah Oula, Aswan 1, Aswan

"Wonderful, friendly service at a very reasonable price. A beautiful location with a beautiful view. The only downside is that you do have to walk to access downtown, which isn’t *too* big a problem unless you come in the middle of summer when it’s scorching hot and walking anywhere will drain you of energy very quickly! I absolutely recommend staying here and if I return to Aswan, I will almost certainly stay at this hotel."

Obelisk Nile Hotel

Obelisk Nile Hotel ★★★★

📍 1 Corniche El Nile St, Sheyakhah Thalethah, Aswan

"This hotel is really old and definitely not worth the price. We stayed in Luxor for the same price and it was much, much better. The room was tiny; it was hard to move around after putting down two suitcases. It was supposed to be a 1.5m bed, but they put a 1.8m mattress on it, so if you sleep too close to the edge, it sags... The toilet leaked all night, and the air conditioning barely cooled the room."

"We had an absolutely AMAZING TIME! From our airport pick up (which I recommend). Even though it was 2am we were still greeted with fantastic Hibiscus tea from Edres he was fantastic. We were shown around even at that time. In the morning we asked for a call to see the sunrise and that was fantastic as well. In the morning we had a great typical breakfast and then a fantastic tour as well. Rowan and Aya also were wonderful. I would recommend this place to see the true Aswan and tour the Nubian Village. Also, the lunch was fantastic as well. Next time we want to spend more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay."

📍 جزيرة، جزيرة اسوان -Elephantine island -beachfront -one minutes from public ferry aswan- Elephantine island, Aswan

"Location of the hotel: Cross the island from the boat dock near KFC on the riverside main street, Corniche (EGP 10 per person, EGP 60 per person at night), go up the stairs and the blue door on the right is the entrance. The owner is not usually at the hotel, so be sure to let him know your arrival time in advance. Facilities: Air conditioner, hair dryer, shampoo, body soap, shared refrigerator, shared kettle, washing machine (USD 4 per use) It's a bit of a hassle to cross the river, but it's perfect for those who want to stay quietly away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The owner treated us to mango juice from his mango field. It was very rich and delicious. He also gave us a handmade necklace made by his daughter. We stayed for three days, but the room was not cleaned, and towels were replaced by contacting them every time. The neighbors were friendly and called out to us. A Nubian girl told us, "I like Japanese anime.""

Breakfast is great, the beds are comfy and the restaurant in the terrace is very cozy. They offer massage and sauna services in the upper floor. He also has a boat for transfers into Aswan. "On our check-in day, we set off early in the morning and drove from Cairo to Aswan. After checking into the hotel, we had originally planned to have dinner at King Jamaica, but we were too tired to eat, so we opted for dinner at the hotel (our first meal of the day). The hotel dinner was quite expensive. I ordered salmon, but after taking a bite of the diced carrots on the side, I immediately vomited it because it had a sour smell. My boyfriend ordered steak, and that evening, we both suffered from stomach discomfort and diarrhea. My boyfriend ran a high fever the next day, forcing us to cancel our entire trip and stay in the hotel. We called the hotel to explain the situation and requested a thermometer and four bottles of mineral water. When the thermometer arrived, the waiter waited outside for us to return it after we used it. The restaurant waiter also brought the bill when he delivered the four bottles of water. I couldn't help but ask if the hotel had fever-reducing medicine, so they gave us two Panadol tablets. Beyond that, they offered no further explanation, simply saying that the food might have gone bad due to the heat, and that the stay was a poor experience. The waiter, Mostafa, was very warm and friendly, with a contagious smile and thoughtfulness. We left him a tip."

"Arriving at 9 am, I only planned to leave my luggage at the hotel, but the front desk helped me check in early 🙏; since I couldn't find anything to eat on my early flight, they arranged breakfast for me, $15 per person, which is a normal price. The scenery was truly comparable to the old falls. In Aswan, it felt like the inside and outside of the hotel were two different worlds; the hotel was safe and civilized, while the outside was chaotic and disorderly."

Kato Dool Wellness Resort Hotels in Aswan

Kato Dool Wellness Resort

"This is a very contradictory B&B hotel that I don't know if it is worth recommending. Its shortcomings and advantages are very prominent. It is suitable for Internet celebrities to make photos (the following photos are all original photos without retouching), but it is not suitable for anyone who has certain requirements for "accommodation" itself. If you can find any cheap + clean + similar scenery alternative hotel, it is recommended to change it, but if it is just for taking pictures and scenery, it may be ranked at the top in Nubian Village. First of all, you have to be able to tolerate: 1. The hotel price is not cost-effective in the peak season, and the B&B offers the price of a five-star hotel. 2. Poor room facilities, rough-style furniture and narrow rooms, worrying bed sheets, bathroom shower water overflowing and drainage is useless, no slippers, toothbrushes, hair dryers (phone front desk can provide). 3. The breakfast is self-service and extremely simple and unpalatable, unlike some people who commented on the set and inexplicably praised it. 4. Tolerate or pay more to continue to tolerate the complaints of the chartered driver to drive into Nubian Village, and then contact the hotel by yourself in the middle of the night to change to a three-wheeled motorcycle in the deserted and dark mountains for 15 minutes to doubt life and reach the mountaintop hotel. 5. Other prices are very unreasonable. We originally wanted to book dinner for the New Year's Eve party, but it cost 100 US dollars per person... What did we get here? 1. The balcony of the room can see the unbeatable sunrise on the west bank of the Nile. We witnessed the first light of 2025 here at 6 am. 2. The various poses in the cultural buildings of the Nubian Village are very photogenic. 3. The desert next to the hotel is very photogenic. 4. A very special cultural experience of a group of tourists jumping up and down the mountain in a row of three-wheeled vehicles. 5. The hotel service staff is relatively friendly. Finally, it is explained that Egypt is not a country where tipping is allowed. Carrying luggage is a basic service of any hotel in their country. No one asked for tips during the entire stay."

"A warm and lovely stay at the Nubian Village in Aswan. Quite a bit off drive from Aswan city, but if you’re looking for a change of scenery & a unique introduction to the Nubian life - I highly recommend this guesthouse. Hamo - the owner and manager - is wonderful and kind. He ensured I had a comfortable stay and also arranged for Tuktuk to drop off and pick up from the Main Street. The food was delicious too. Thank you for a great stay!"

"We had a wonderful stay at Ekadolli Nubian Guesthouse in Aswan and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Nubian experience. The hospitality was incredibly warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. Everyone greeted us with genuine smiles and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The atmosphere was so comfortable and caring that it truly felt like a home away from home. The food was absolutely delicious, with every meal freshly prepared and full of flavor. One of the highlights of our trip was the tour to the Nubian Village, where we learned about Nubian culture, traditions and crocodile breeding. Our guide was knowledgeable, patient, and happy to answer every question we had, making the experience both enjoyable and educational. We noticed that some reviews mention the location as a downside. For us, however, it was not a problem at all. We were always able to arrange transportation whenever needed. While the cost of hiring drivers was slightly higher than what we experienced elsewhere, the convenience and overall experience more than made up for it. What truly sets this place apart is the people. Their kindness, hospitality, and constant willingness to help created a memorable experience that we will never forget. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with our stay. Thank you to everyone at Ekadolli Nubian Guesthouse for making our time in Aswan so special. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Aswan."

ABU Guest House ★★
"I loved Abu’s guesthouse, Abu himself would organize anything I needed during the stay, short trips, taxis, boats even in the night! He even made me his own organically grown moringa tea! The whole guesthouse is very clean, nice and Abu really puts all his money back into the house to make it better all the time! He has a beautiful sauna, and he can also organize for you sand sauna (which I would definitely recommend). Abu is a local, grew up on the island, and he is a great person to talk with about many interesting things. He can recommend to you what you could do while in Aswan. Abu simply makes you feel at home"

"It's in a lively area close to the Nile. It's bright until late at night. The hotel is old but clean. The air conditioner doesn't work very well and you have to turn it on after you check in, so the futon is warm when you go to sleep. I checked out early in the morning, but they prepared breakfast for me. Thank you very much."
