Initially booked a deluxe queen suite and Trip.com / hotel confirmed we could add a single bed. Upon arrival, hotel said they couldn't and changed us to a family suite even though they have rollaway beds available and the deluxe queen suite had ample space. Room: Family suite is spacious but A/C took very long to warm up the room. Bathroom is open concept with clothing rack situated outside the shower closet which makes it inconvenient to dress/undress. Breakfast buffet has a decent selection of Chinese dishes including a noodle station. Location: Hotel is ＜10 min drive from train station and old town area which is quite convenient considering that most of the hotels that are walking distance from the old town are dated and undermaintained.

I'd heard about the new five-star hotel in Taining and was really impressed upon arrival! The hotel is built into the mountainside, with the lobby and restaurant on the 7th floor. The guest rooms all overlook the lake, offering lake views that cascade down the hillside, somewhat reminiscent of the Shanghai Sheshan Wonderland Hotel – very unique. The rooms are spacious and well-designed, with a large bathtub in the bathroom – I loved it! The bathroom also features a separate shower and toilet. It was a wonderful vacation with my best friend. The hotel was clean and tidy, and the service was attentive. The air conditioning was pre-set for dinner, making it warm and cozy in the freezing Taining. For lunch, we ordered a simple meal at the restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the fried rice and the mixed fruit and pork belly – a perfect combination. The staff and chef even came to check on our preferences, which was very thoughtful. I forgot to take a picture of the afternoon's special 9.9 yuan coffee, but it was such a great deal! The coffee was authentic and incredibly fragrant, and it even came with a glutinous rice cake – such a high-value meal! The location is great. It's right on the old street. Just a few steps from the famous Shangshudi (Shangshu House) attraction. There are many restaurants and antique shops nearby. It's easy to get a taxi. The scenery is stunning.

Great hotel close to all tourist sites in the area, quite and tranquil view of the river. They had no problems registering foreigners. rooms are spacious and clean, loved the cartoon feature for children. breakfast is what you would expect so far from big cities, tasty but more Chinese than western. Over all a very good stay, recommended if resting in the area before continuing your trip. So many different things to do around here you probably need more than 1 night.
