The hotel is rated as a five-star and its features on paper reflect this rating. However, upon arrival, it felt more like a relic from the past. The room was extremely outdated, which was quite disappointing. The staff was a mixed bag – some were excellent and attentive, while others were just average.
One night, late in the evening, the police came to my room with a staff member and checked my passport. This was a very unsettling experience and made me feel unsafe. The staff explained that random checks are common for foreign guests in Beijing, but I suspect it might have been because I had several packages delivered to the hotel. Regardless of the reason, it was not a pleasant experience.
The breakfast was good, and all the amenities were theoretically those of a five-star hotel. However, the overall quality and the price I paid did not meet my expectations. I believe it was not worth the cost.
