Great
SStephanie Ann KesslerStayed at The Residence over 3 day.l Staff attitude was good all round - everyone took ownership of their respective roles from the concierge through to Front Desk. Despite the distance from the ferry terminal if you come by BBT, The Residence is self-sufficient w activities for adults and kids. It's tranquil and a blissful sanctuary for a restful break. You could also arrange excursions through the hotel. Rainy season is from Oct to April. Check out activities thru WhatsApp comms. Take the provided bicycle or just walk through the farm and ask the staff there about feeding chickens, rabbits and Tilapia. Or understand the role of the farm in relation to the restaurants. Nothing is perfect but you'll definitely be won over by the earnestness of the staff.
TTeejayqThe villa was beautiful, even better than the pictures. However, cleanliness was slightly lacking, we had sand on our toilet floor even though we did not go to the beach. Service was pretty good, quick and fast response to queries, staff were all pretty friendly as well.
Three things that could be improved were management of flies, the environment (temperature, humidity) of their restaurant, as well as the breakfast selection. Whenever we had a meal in the restaurant, there were a myraid of flies flying around us and our meal, which was certainly less than appealing. The restaurant was also warm and humid. Lastly, breakfast selection were subpar at best, taste wise was average.
Overall, okay stay, would consider coming back for the villa but would skip anything food and restaurant related.
Side note: if you are afraid of bugs, the toilet is a huge downside to this villa as its open concept, which means bugs would be present in the toilet (there was a small worm on the toilet paper).
GGuest UserWe have found this beautiful place on our 2 days dad/son bicycle tour through Western Bintan. We loved the ample, farm type camp that is in between the hills and savannahs with the reddish coloured earth and evergreen palm trees of Bintan. The reception area is already oozing openness and friendliness, and you check in a very pleasant and welcoming world. The owner has established this is as a sustainable youth training and learning center, at the same time offering splendid and well-integrated guest activities for families, kids, and groups. We stayed in one of the clamping houses adjacent to one of the small and relaxing lakes, and my 5y son loved every inch of it. The A/C motor works in the background, the bathroom is bigger than in any of the Lagoi resorts we have been so far. The food is very deliciously mildly spicy, the coffee machine is Italian, the breakfast offers a choice of two menues which makes it easy not to choose wrong. The best part is the always friendly and supporting staff. Yanu was very supportive when engineering a kite and helped us making it fly (even outside his shift). The creative center is definitely worth a visit. As natural bicyclists, we loved the empty and small paved roads around the Camp, so we even had a wonderful time biking down to the Blue Lagoon (1hour). From the Ferry Station TM it is a 2h bicycle trip with a few stops in the road (try to avoid the heat). The Bintan Ferry takes bikes for transport, so do 6-seater cabbies in Singapore. I can strongly recommend this place for any escape plans from the big city and for all nature fans.
VVincent GiangI had a great two-night stay at Alltrue. The staff were friendly though not of them can speak English. The location was peaceful, and the room was spacious and clean. Facilities like the spa, gym, and sauna were excellent, and the buffet breakfast had plenty of delicious options. Highly recommended!
MMrSenThis could be a 5* thing, for now it feels more like 4 to 4.5 * for me. Let me explain.
First of all, there are many really big upsides for the Nirwana Resort:
- The hotel is in a wonderful location. The beach directly in front of the hotel is beautiful, however if you explore a little further, the beach right next (connected to some rentable mini-houses) is also part of the Nirwana area and even cleaner and more inviting for a direct swim.
- The room was even nicer than anticipated via the photos. Everything was tastefully designed, clean and room-service did a great job daily. The hotel itself is abut 35 years old, very close to the sea and constantly exposed to salty winds. It's just amazing that they managed to maintain the open-corridors in such a great condition. There's a lot of wooden features (which look really good imho).
- The staff is friendly and helpful. You will find plenty of activities if that is your thing.
Now to the kinda neutral part: Some of the in-hotel facilities were not available during our stay. For example to get to the gym you had to switch to another building a few hundret meters away. You still get everything you need, so it's not really a complaint - more a thing of convenience but since all the surrounding area is pretty nice I would recommend exploring a bit anyway.
The two main negative factors were:
- It's a very secluded resort and there is no normal supermarket or anything similar nearby for basic daily needs like water or what-have-you. This means you will need to pay mega-premiums. 1 L of water costs over 100k Rupias or about 7 to 8 USD. A small bottle of coke is about $3.5. Same goes for all other snacks, drinks and foods. They are very overpriced, just because you don't have a choice. Another example: A pizza + a ”gourmet” burger were close to $50. I wouldn't even complain if it was really ”gourmet”. However not even close: You can eat both, it's not terrible but it's very basic, the pizza too dry and kinda small, the burger the most boring I had in years and not great beef at all.
Same goes for all the other food we had in the in-house restaurant. It's not bad but every dish feels like something is a bit off or missing or just very basic. Especially for the premium price you pay this seems not right.
There are two more restaurants within ~1km walking distance: An indian restaurant. Pricing is on the higher side but more reasonable than the indoor restaurant. Tandoori chicken was over-spiced (not hot just too strong taste with nothing to compliment it) and very dry/boring. The infamous butter chicken was great, though. I would recommend the ”Spicy restaurant” (4 stars) but make sure you get something with sauce.
And then there is a seafood restaurant. It's really pricy (especially when compared to seafood in Batam for example) but you get an incredible fresh and well seasoned fish/crab/prawn selection that makes it worth 100% to visit. Also the view is fantastic.
I actually would rate this whole experience 5 stars - if you would get the basics (water, coke, some smaller snacks) for a fair price; right now this part feels a bit like a rip-off.
Also, local taxi service is a bit over-priced, same goes for activities. I really don't mind spending more, but there needs to be a balance where you don't feel taken advantage of.
If you don't care about that, I would fully recommend the stay at Nirwana Hotel.
AAmberWe stayed at the seaview chalet which was spacious and the view superb. The beach was clean. Service at the spa, front counter, restaurant and hse keeping were also top notched and taxi booking was fuss free. We walked about 5 to 10 minutes to Nirwana resort and enjoyed the pool and some activities. Food and service at Mayang was much better than Nirwana. The breakfast was acceptable for me with slight changes everyday (mie goreng was v nice!). Small gripes - there was no bathtub or whirlpool and the tv resolution was gritty. Otherwise perfect. Thk you for the relaxing holiday!
HHenry ZawOverall, the Grand Lagoi Hotel Bintan offers a decent stay, particularly if you're travelling with family and looking for good value.
The definite highlight was the room itself. We found it to be spacious, well-maintained, and comfortable, providing plenty of room for everyone. The bathroom was also quite good – clean and functional. For the price point, the quality of the accommodation felt very reasonable.
However, there were a few areas that could be improved. While the hotel boasts a rooftop bar and restaurant, we found it to be noticeably expensive. Guests should budget accordingly if planning to dine or drink there frequently. The breakfast included with the stay was unfortunately not very impressive, lacking variety and quality compared to what we might have expected.
Location-wise, it's a bit of a mixed bag. The hotel is near the Lagoi Bay area, but we found the water at the nearby beach wasn't particularly clean during our visit. It's also important to note that the hotel is quite far from the main town centres like Tanjung Pinang, so accessing local eateries or shops requires transport and planning.
The staff were generally okay – they handled requests adequately, but didn't particularly stand out for exceptional service.
In summary: Grand Lagoi Hotel Bintan is a solid choice if your priority is a large, comfortable room at a reasonable price, making it suitable for families. However, be prepared for potentially high costs at the rooftop restaurant, a basic breakfast offering, a beach that might not be ideal for swimming, and a location that's relatively isolated. If you manage expectations regarding dining and location, it can be a pleasant base for your Bintan trip.
PPratibha AshwinWe stayed with our family at the Kawaland glamping resort for 3D,2N. We had a very nice experience. The staff were sincere, hard working, friendly and courteous with all our needs. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and explained to us about the Indonesian cuisine. All the food that we tried at the restaurant was good! The glamping rooms were comfortable with spacious bedroom and bathrooms. The beach was only a walking distance from the resort & it was clean and beautiful. They also had swimming pools. We also had a good experience using the BBQ pit with the help of staff. We were also able to try the movie night with the projector at the beach bar. One area that could be improved is: During warm weather, the roof panels and the room interior gets quite hot. The AC alone was not sufficient. So it may need some other solution as well to keep the room comfortable. Otherwise, we had a chill, happy vacation at the resort! Would definitely recommend it to everyone.
GGuest UserThe resort located outside of Bintan Resort, and it takes 40 mins to get there by cab which needs to be booked at the ferry terminal.
That aside, it was all worth it as the resort was really private and most importantly the service was top. specifically would like to highlight Fazli and Deden that were extremely helpful and cheerful. They never failed to attend to our queries promptly and went beyond what was expected.
Thanks once again for the great experience!
KKok KhyaiStaying at the Cabin Villa at De Bintan Villa has been such a delightful experience! I’m so happy to be back, and this time I had the chance to try their new cabin with its serene sea view. The staff here are incredible and truly made my stay feel warm and welcoming. Plus, the room was spotlessly clean, which made it even better.
The journey started smoothly with Bobby, who picked me up and made the drive comfortable and enjoyable. Agus who sent me back to ferry terminal is awesome too !
At the Cabin Villa, Erni and Deka were always there with bright smiles and friendly service, making sure everything was perfect.
Andy, who drove me between the Cabin Villa and the Cliff Cafe, was also exceptionally warm and friendly, which made the experience even more pleasant.
At the Cliff Cafe, Suhardi and Seltiya provided attentive and helpful service, making me feel right at home.
Overall, it was a wonderfully warm and enjoyable stay with a great room and kind people with beautiful smiles. Thank you so much for everything, and I can’t wait to come back again!
