Booked 2 rooms for 4 guests via trip.com with an additional request for rooms with a connecting door. In the trip.com app, we intentionally correctly filled all the guest details for each rooms. Upon checkin, the hotel’s front desk said they cant accommodate the connecting room request because they say it was booked under different names. Sadly they used this opportunity to argue with us, printing out in front of ourselves with their printer on the front desk: 2 separate reservations under different names (Maybe since we intentionally filled those guest names correctly? But the contact number and email is still the same, no?). From it we briefly saw all details like the 2 different reservations numbers they used as the crucial evidence, and how our booking was routed through ******* (From this detail one could argue the request was lost through the flawed trip.com system. Yet the hotel could’ve investigated and be more proactive after seeing a reservation for one room asking for connecting doors??). I thought hotel guests checking in at night only wanted rest, not attending trial??? Although to be fair in the end they got us 2 connecting rooms, albeit at a low floor (after the unnecessary bargaining). They required Rp200K as deposit. Room was clean, with a very useful Korean brand smart tv. Functional hair dryer, good lighting, with an in-room safe, and a small fridge/chiller. Breakfast could’ve been better, but there’s a lot of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. We got valet parking but didn’t pay for it, was it complimentary because of the limited parking space this hotel has, or did we get it as compensation/goodwill, we never knew (this was not explained at check in).

The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Medan train station, right on the street next to Tjong A Fie Mansion. The doorman helps with luggage, and there's an ATM inside the hotel entrance. The lobby also has a restaurant where you can order lunch and dinner at your own expense. The room isn't huge, but the bed is comfortable. The only downside is the modified motorbikes in Indonesia, which are incredibly loud. There aren't many vehicles during the hot daytime, but as evening approaches, the noise gets progressively worse, continuing until well past 2 AM. In the evening, there are also many drink stalls near the hotel, playing loud music. The shower has great water pressure, making for a very comfortable shower and hair wash. Breakfast is included, offering good value for money.

图样The hotel's location is quite convenient, right opposite a Starbucks. However, traffic can be quite congested. The hotel staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. On a side note, the new spa downstairs is excellent, offering great value for money. If I ever get the chance to visit again, I'd definitely consider staying at this hotel.

Anonymous UserThe environment is good, located in the heart of Medan, close to shopping malls and not far from the Medan city rail station. Taxis are also convenient. It's worth noting that Medan Airport is quite a distance from the hotel, about a 1-hour taxi ride.

西蒙子No hot water in the shower, a little bit seems dirty/ broken in the bathroom and it doesn’t give the feeling of real luxury, but for this price I think it’s very good still. You have a restaurant which is open 24/7 with friendly servers.
The pool is shared by hotel guests with people who pay for usage of the pool, looks clean enough.
Staff helped to bring luggage to the room.
The location of the hotel is good, it feels a little bit less developed around the hotel tho, but there is a nice mall nearby, maybe 5 minutes with the car.

Guest UserI always choose Ibis Pattimura when I first landed in Medan because mostly I took the late night flight from Kuala Lumpur. The reception was good and overall service was good. But one thing that is always happen is the noises on the corridor (people talking, kids running on the corridor) and its not sound proof and it caused me lack of sleep. Hopefully the management taking action on this matter or the security or housekeeper staff will regularly check the floor to avoid this bothering noise from neighbours room or corridor.

The apartment is very spacious, which makes it a great choice, especially for family gatherings. The room was very clean, and the price is very reasonable for the size and value offered.
However, the apartment would benefit from some updates, as the mattresses feel quite soft and old. Replacing the mattresses, pillows, and blaket would significantly improve comfort and make the stay even better.
Overall, this is a good place for families looking for a spacious and affordable stay, and with a few upgrades to the bedding, it would be perfect.

I recently stayed at Grand Sakura Hotel in Medan, and overall, it was a decent experience—especially for the price.
The hotel is located in a pretty strategic area, making it easy to get around the city and access nearby attractions, shopping spots, and transportation. Many guests also highlight the convenience of its location and accessibility.
The room was spacious and fairly comfortable, with basic amenities like air conditioning, TV, and WiFi. Cleanliness was generally acceptable, although some areas could use better maintenance and attention to detail.
One of the positives is the staff—they were mostly friendly and helpful during the stay, which made the experience more pleasant. The breakfast offered a decent variety of food, though sometimes items were not refilled quickly during busy periods.
However, there are a few downsides. Some guests have reported issues like noise (especially from air conditioning units), occasional maintenance problems, and inconsistent service at the front desk. The facilities are also quite basic, so don’t expect anything luxurious.
Overall, Grand Sakura Hotel is a good budget-friendly option if you’re looking for a simple and convenient place to stay in Medan. It’s best suited for short stays or travelers who prioritize location and value over luxury.
