Guest UserVery atmospheric and cozy ryokan. Traditional style room and majestic mountains view are breathtaking.
The food is fantastic, you dine privately in peace and also provided with unlimited amount of drinks for 90 minutes.
There are private and common (men/women) baths available. Water temperature is comfortable and magically washes away your fatigue.
Personnel is kind and helpful, they used translator to explain everything to me.
I was provided with shuttle bus on check-in and check-out to nearby station (kawaryo onsen station).
This place is perfect if you want to detox from city bustle and cleanse your thoughts.
Nearby konbini is 1h away on foot (or 15 min on car) so I advise you to stock up your supplies in advance if you need any.

I really liked the facilities and service, they were good for the price. The two private hot springs were just the right size for two people and we were able to relax in them. The complimentary breakfast was also luxurious and delicious. I would like to use it again if I come to Kusatsu!

This was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.

Benjaminsim87An oasis of calm in a stone’s throw away from Yubatake. Getting up here can be tricky if you drive but the staff are standing by to direct your car to the reserved parking lots. Breakfast and dinner were exquisite Kaiseki sets. The indoor/outdoor onsens were spacious and clean, with zen greenery surrounding the baths. Traditional rooms are spacious and cosy, with staff setting up the futons while you have dinner. Great place to stay with delicious food.

LilingshuchiThe entire hot spring town is absolutely beautiful. Since it was newly renovated in 2024, there was no musty smell in the room. The staff were professional, polite, and warmly welcoming without being intrusive, and their English was excellent. There's a shuttle service from the hotel to the station, or you can walk there yourself. This hotel is exactly what I imagined a Japanese onsen hotel to be. The hotel's own hot springs are fantastic. The location is truly the best – some hotels are up in the mountains or require a bit of a walk, but Ichii offers direct views of Yubatake. On the first floor, there's also a large souvenir shop with many unique items that aren't available back home. I'd definitely choose to spend a whole day exploring Karuizawa and then stay at Ichii again!

You need to wear slippers to get in. The staffs can only speak little english, but they are very kind and polite.
The room is huge, it's like an apartment.
It also has nice snow view from window.
And the location is very close to the main road. It also close to the bus station.
The dinner and breakfast also tasty. Japanese fine dining haha.

Excellent value for money, with a half-board package that included dinner and breakfast. Dinner was very generous, though the aftertaste was just average; the Jōshū beef was the highlight. Breakfast quality was superb. Very satisfied with the cleanliness and comfort.

ChingSqThe hotel is a bit of a drive from Karuizawa JR Station, about 35 minutes, and there's a toll fee. However, the scenery along the way is beautiful. Shiraito Falls is about 10 minutes away. The hotel parking lot is ample and very convenient.
The hotel rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The hot springs are both indoor and outdoor, with an orange-brown color and a mild odor. Unfortunately, the outdoor hot springs don't allow for a view of the sky.
The breakfast and dinner buffets offer a wide variety of options and are delicious.
This hotel has a very resort-like feel and I'd definitely return if I had the chance.

Anonymous UserThe Japanese-style room in the South Annex is old, large, and has a low-end toilet. The fried food is not good, the crust is too thick and hard, the sesame balls/cakes and other desserts/pineapples are delicious, and they seem to be the same as the cakes in the Manza-tei cuisine desserts, and there are more varieties. The open-air bath Gokurakuyu is outdoors, which is quite inconvenient and crowded. The men's bath is better than the women's bath; the indoor hot spring hurts your feet after entering

We have been travelling through asia for two months, and this might have been the best hotel of the entire holiday. The location is spectecular, nezt to a river and between all the volcano plumes, the staff is friendly and are very detailed about how everything works. But the onsens are the best. First of all, they are open 24/7, so you can go there whenever you want. But there are a lot of them, with different temperstures, and its directly next to the river, so the background sound of the flowing river makes it even more relaxing. There is also a seperated onsen in another part of the hotel, which has an inside and outside part. This hotel is a truly amazing hotel.
