Jo-an Here⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Exceptional Stay!
We had an exceptional stay at Tabino Hotel. The room we booked was spacious, spotlessly clean, modern, and very comfortable. One of the highlights was waking up to the beautiful view of the Japanese Alps.
The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of choices, making it a wonderful start to each day. We also loved the hotel’s massage chairs and relaxing sauna, which were perfect after a day of sightseeing.
The location is excellent—close to the train station, Matsumoto Castle, museums, and the famous Nakamachi and Nawate shopping streets. The bus stop for Kamikochi is also nearby, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area.
Everything exceeded our expectations, from the facilities to the cleanliness and location. We highly recommend Tabino Hotel and would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Matsumoto.

Fukashiso could be one of the loveliest accommodation that I have ever stayed at. The staff were very polite, attentive and extremely helpful and courteous. The place itself is so beautiful and quaint. Traditional garments are provided as an option if you want to dress up for dinner. Made for great photo ops! The Kaiseki was the most beautiful equivalent of a degustation I’ve tried, and it was served in a lovely separate intimate dining area. During dinner Nobu-San a fourth generation family member of the owners greeted us which was a lovely touch. Soba was freshly made at the accomodation. We stayed two nights and the Kaiseki menu was different each time. Breakfast was a nice assortment of Japanese and Western options and the coffee machine was actually pretty good. I enjoyed the onsens, there are two public ones that switch locations for men and women and a private one. They were well equipped and relaxing. Our room was on Level 1 with a private bathroom, seating area and little garden view. Overall this place is highly recommended. For a traditional ryokan experience, it was so nice. Even after we checked out, the receptionist gave us a little gift, and even walked us outside to where our car was parked. Such a warm and lovely place. Stay here for sure!

By DebI recently stayed at Hotel M Matsumoto and had a wonderful experience.
One of the biggest advantages of this hotel is its excellent location. It is conveniently located near Matsumoto Station, making it easy to travel around the city and visit nearby attractions. There are also plenty of cafes, restaurants, and convenience stores within walking distance.
The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay.
I booked a private room, which offered much more space than a typical sleeping pod or capsule hotel. I was able to comfortably open my luggage, organize my belongings, and move around without feeling cramped. The room was also very quiet, allowing me to rest well after a long day of traveling and sightseeing.
One of my favorite features of the hotel was the large public bath. It was a great place to relax and unwind after exploring the city. Although the hours for female guests were somewhat limited, I still really enjoyed having access to this facility.
The common area was also very comfortable and well-maintained. Guests can borrow a wide selection of manga for free, which was a nice touch. Another great benefit is the complimentary bicycle rental service, allowing guests to use bicycles for up to three hours free of charge.
Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend Hotel M Matsumoto to anyone planning to visit Matsumoto. The combination of its convenient location, comfortable rooms, excellent facilities, and friendly staff makes it a great choice for travelers.

Guest UserStandard business hotel. It’s clean and simple. However, it looks and smells old. The hallway has a musty smell and the hotel bathroom smells of wet clothes that didn’t dry well. Front desk service is excellent as they went as far as calling my next hotel to help arrange for luggage delivery (usually front desk just accepts without questions). In addition, they speak decent English. The hotel also provides free shuttle to an offsite onsen although I didn’t have a chance to make use of it.

ZatanIf you're coming to Matsumoto and looking for a place with free onsen, this is it! It's very close to the station, the price is reasonable, and the breakfast is delicious. They offer free luggage storage, ice, microwaves, and laundry services on multiple floors.

Hannah R CLocation was a 4 minute walk from the station, or 15 minutes to Matsumoto Castle which was great! Room was pretty spacious (bathroom was compact but fine) and there was a free breakfast which was very good - not too much choice but tasted really good. Beds were quite hard and they don’t do luggage storage after checkout unlike most other hotels, so had to pay for luggage storage at the station instead. Was good for one night. Great value for the price.

Guest UserBy the time we got there by rental car it was quite late, the reception team has been patient and friendly. Suggest to have more illustrated print out for driving to the sightseeing parking lots and more maps to show before heading out. Plus the water machine is not very handy in giving out hot water for tea. Others are perfect in terms of room and environment.

Outdoor temperature was around –3°C, but the ryokan felt even colder because some sections were open to the outdoors. The walkway from the rooms to the onsen is uncovered, so there’s no way to avoid the cold. I had to wear my winter jacket just to walk to the public bath.
There is a private bath option, but the one assigned to me was far too hot — I couldn’t even step into the water.
The public bath is a very small indoor pool, probably suitable for 2–3 people at most. There is no shower in the room, so using the public bath is unavoidable.
The room itself was very cold. On top of that, I had to carry my own 25-inch luggage up three floors as there is no lift, so this place is not suitable if you can’t manage your own luggage.
Dinner was disappointing — just soba and a simple soup with pork and some vegetables and mushrooms.

The room is a bit like a small house in Tokyo, it is still crowded! The twin room is a twin room with a bunk bed, and the lower one will be bigger, the upper bunk will be a little narrower, but the bed is still very comfortable overall, and sleeps very well! Breakfast is free, starting at 6:30 in the morning, winter is different from summer, and the store notice shall prevail. But the price/performance ratio really has nothing to say. Is it a night of sleep or recommended 😃 also self-check in and then the room door lock password will be printed on a piece of paper, which is more convenient. The station is about 5 minutes away, it is still very close.

Anonymous UserThe hotel located in good location, with walking distance to the city center area where you can find shops, restaurants, or even Matsumoto Castle. Parking lot provided with fees but it’s quite convenient. The most favorite from this hotel is there’re plenty of amenities – shampoo, conditioner, shower gel from a lot of brands that you can select by yourself at the lobby.
