Royal Sun

We loved this hotel! We opted for a room with a sea view and it was spectacular. The room was spacious, modern and very comfortable with a lovely balcony with an absolutely gorgeous view of Chania, the sea and mountains. The staff is welcoming and very helpful. The restaurant has the same gorgeous view with delicious food, including a free extensive breakfast buffet. The free shuttle to the waterfront is quite convenient and there are free washers/dryers for guests. Wonderful, wonderful hotel!!

Couple of weeks of total relaxation, staff so attentive, restaurant wonderful, pool great, blimey this sounds corny …. We had a great time , its a 12 minute drive into town with its own free shuttle, we had moped so just as quick , great view , lovely rooms and room service, if we come back to Crete we would love to stay here again.

This is our third time at the Royal Sun and we just love going back to stay - it really is home from home. Like many of the reviews, the management and staff really make the stay so memorable. I have to give so much credit to Stefania and her wonderful team - from Eva, Emma and Maria on front desk right up to the fantastic super friendly restaurant team including Manta, Maria, Konstantina, Joanne and Harris. Sorry if I’ve left anybody out, but really they are all a wonderful bunch of people. Let’s not forget the housekeeping team too who are such a lovely friendly bunch and do a wonderful job keeping the rooms immaculate. The hotel is always super clean, the beds so comfy and the views - of course- stunning. We love the food in the restaurant at lunchtime too - so tasty with all fresh ingredients. You won’t find a hotel experience like this in Chania. It really is the town’s best kept secret. Needless to say, like so many people who come here, we will absolutely be back again. I cannot wait for next year, and thanks again for such a memorable stay.

The best place for breakfast, brunch,lunch, coffee dinner etc..amazing view, spotless clean and the best service in town!!every time we visit it it’s we have the best time! There is the option to eat from the buffet.such a classy and with quality place!

We enjoyed a fantastic stay at the royal Sun hotel. The staff were excellent theoughout. The breakfast was lovely. The free shuttle bus service to town was fantastic and runs until 11:45 in the evening. This hotel is above its 3 star rating and is the best hotel I have ever stayed at from a value for money perspective. Thank you for a great week in Chania

A fabulous hotel. Should be a 4*. Very pleasant and efficient staff. Beautiful design to make the most of the pool and city views. Tasteful decor. Quality furnishings. Large and comfortable bed. Fabulous, large, clean pool. We did miss the convenience of having a poolside bar for drinks and snacks, however, you can still use the pool phones to ring through to the (top floor) bar and order. And delivery comes within 10 minutes. Food and drink fantastic. And top notch breakfast selection. Would love to return. Highly recommend.

The standard of this hotel belies its 3 star rating. This hotel is truly a gem. To some, the location being away from the old town may be an issue, but don’t let it be, there’s a regular, prompt, reliable shuttle bus service to and from Old Town. The staff are incredible, super friendly, and nothing is too much trouble, going about their work with a smile on their faces. The Pool is excellent with a fantastic view across the city. The restaurant too has this same view. We were staying bed and breakfast and the quality and choice on offer was superb. We also had a snack there one afternoon and that too was excellent. The rooms are clean with good modern facilities. Ours (rear terrace room) was a little small but we knew that when we booked and it wasn’t an issue as we didn’t expect to spend much time in there. This hotel has been recommended to us and we could see immediately why once we were there, we can’t wait to return!

Liked it so much 2 years ago, we returned again this year. The hotel is located overlooking Chania so you have the most wonderful views at any time of day or night. We are in our 60's & want a peaceful place to stay with cosy clean rooms & comfy bed. This ticks all the boxes. We met others in the over 50's age category who also felt the same. The staff are just excellent - very helpful all the time & are very hard working. The breakfast area is well stocked with lovely seating and again you can enjoy the views. We ate in the restaurant/bar area one evening also and were very pleased with our experience. The pool area is just a joyful experience and the beds outside comfy with plenty of shaded areas. Staff will bring you drinks or food to the area also. The shuttle bus service runs morning to late at night with one break but again this is really helpful so you can save your walking for the downtown area. Its quite a hilly walk otherwise and not pleasant in high heat conditions or would not recommend late at night either. We didn't use the laundry facilities as only stayed a week but glad to know they were there. The balcony area is lovely outside the room. OK its not a huge room but its good enough for 2 people & has a little fridge also. Bathroom small but shower really good. Wardrobe space is tight - that is the only area I would suggest improvement in & they could consider a few hooks on the wall to even hang somethings. We used the clothes line area on the balcony which was quite sturdy and could hang some trousers over that to save on some space. I would certainly stay here again whenever we come back to Chania as it totally suits our requirements.
