This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The service at the buffet breakfast was impeccable while the breakfast varieties were acceptable. The service provided by the staff with the employees' tag below was superb during my breakfast. The room is huge, a truly international 5 star quality. Daily cleaning service was great while I didn't manage to get their name, but kudos to their services. All in all, my experience here was great, and I would recommend anyone who stay at this hotel.

I enjoy my stay at Yungang grand hotel. The room is big and clean. But the robot unable to go up to passed the food delivery like how other china hotel. Around 10-15 mins walk, there is alot of food. And 10 mins drive to 大唐大学美食. I would like to give a commendation to our room attendant staff 任美英 during my stay.
She have went extra mile to ensure we have a more than comfortable experience in your hotel. Thank you!!!!

(1) They advertised the availability of 'air-conditioning', but it is not in reality!!! The room was very hot. Datong's average temperature was around 26 degC, yet no air-conditioning whatsoever.
(2) This is a smoking hotel... they put us in a room stinks of cigarettes smell. We requested to change room, fortunately the second room did smell of cigarettes but was not as bad as the first one.
(3) The toilet got blocked in our first night!!!
(4) When requested, this hotel declined to loan us any dining cutlery.
(5) Check-in staff are only interested in chatting & hooking us up with their tours/drivers people.
This was a waste of money!!!

Hotel is beautiful, however the cleanliness is a big question mark. There were a lot of cigarette ashes in the room, hair on the carpet, and stains on the bath.

Everything in the hotel works well, sensor lights, customer service was great, breakfast was extensive. Hotel was very grand, chandeliers in the lifts and bathrooms. Only that toiletries can be improved. Three of us had to share one tiny bottle of shower gel and shampoo. You don’t want to be worrying when it was run out and end up being stranded in the bath. Had to ask for more the next day. Other than that, highly recommended

We spent two wonderful nights at Yungang Hotel in Datong.
First of all, our deepest gratitude to Yang wen yuan - 杨文元.
When booking from Europe, we did not realise correctly the time required to get to the caves and to the hanging monastery (a must view when in Datong).
We thought that by using public transport we could manage to do both in a short period of time. So wrong!
We arrived and Yang wen yuan - 杨文元 reassured us and in less than 30 minutes he was able to help and book for us a private car for the next day. He made our stay unforgettable. Thanks a lot from both of us if you are reading !
Plus, this hotel is wonderful : super new, technological and the staff is super kind (from the ones in the lobby to the ones in the restaurant/cafeteria). Breakfast is amazing. You can have everything, freshly made for you.
