Four Seasons Holiday Hotel (Datong Yungang Road) ★★★
"As a family with children, this stay was fantastic! The room was spacious and clean, and they even thoughtfully provided slippers and toothbrushes for kids. The hotel has its own playground and swimming pool, and the kids didn't want to leave. The buffet breakfast had a dedicated children's area, offering nutritious and healthy options. The biggest surprise was that the staff upgraded our room and gave us a welcome gift. The location is also very convenient, just a 5-minute walk to the subway station, and there are plenty of shopping malls and restaurants nearby. The price is very reasonable compared to similar hotels, and we will definitely stay here again!"
Renyi Inn ★★★
"The owner is incredibly nice! The courtyard is sunny and they even have peacocks, squirrels, parrots, and fish – it's such a relaxing life. As soon as I arrived, they offered me cool and delicious watermelon, and in the morning, they brought freshly boiled corn. It was wonderful, I'll definitely be back next time!"

Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale , Datong
"The hotel looks very luxurious, and the breakfast restaurant is beautiful with a fountain. However, for such great facilities, I didn't expect the floors to be so thin. I could hear people walking upstairs all night – it was so noisy! The service was also really subpar, especially in the breakfast restaurant. I'm not sure if the staff are shared with Yungang. Anyway, the staff at the noodle and egg station, particularly the one furthest from the entrance to the restaurant, were awful. They were off-duty during breakfast, with only one person frying eggs while the noodle chef was nowhere to be found. They eventually showed up much later. With so many guests, their movements were incredibly slow. Even the staff clearing tables were much quicker than them. Honestly, it was off-putting and made me lose my appetite. The breakfast food was also terrible and completely didn't match the hotel's supposed luxury. Having traveled extensively, I usually find that upscale hotels offer better food than average ones, but Wyndham really reset my expectations. I felt like I was eating pig feed. You don't even need me to tell you; just look at how much food guests left on their tables, uneaten. That alone tells you how bad it was – good food wouldn't be left untouched. I even saw a whole bowl of noodles left on a table after guests had left. We genuinely didn't want to waste food; it was just genuinely awful. I truly felt like I was eating pig feed. They didn't treat us like people, showed no respect for us, and seemed to think anything edible was fine, never considering the taste."

Datong Hotel
"Every time I visit Datong, I choose to stay here. I mean, if it's good enough for central government leaders visiting Datong, how bad could it be? The rooms at Datong Hotel aren't huge and the facilities are a bit old, but staying here feels open and comfortable. This might be due to the thick walls and simple design of the older building, which means less mutual interference and a very quiet night's sleep. Just a couple of suggestions: could the fountain in the courtyard be turned off earlier in the evening, and could the music from the speakers in the courtyard be a bit softer? I chose this hotel for its peace and quiet, so it feels unnecessary and counterproductive for the hotel to create noise."
Huayi Select Hotel by Home Inn (Datong Yungang District Wuyue Plaza)
"The room was spacious and bright, the hotel environment was quite nice, the surroundings were quiet, taxis were readily available, and there were convenience stores and fruit and vegetable shops nearby, making it convenient and quick to buy things."
Datong Grand Hotel
"We booked the Embassy Suite for a night. The room was very spacious, and the beds were comfortable and clean. However, the toiletries and amenities (no fridge for example) are very dated. The staff were very nice and welcoming and the location is perfect, very close to the old city and easy to get in and out of Datong. If they would maintain the rooms a bit this can be a great stay."
Datong Jixiashan · SUNYATA Resort Hotel
"The hotel breakfast was exceptionally good; I had planned to just grab a quick bite but was pleasantly surprised. I was debating between a light or full anesthesia early in the morning [humorous way of saying it was so good, it was mind-blowing]. Dinner was also great, offering excellent value for money. For about 500 per person, you can have a really good meal, primarily Cantonese cuisine. Since it's summer, there are a lot of people, so I recommend eating at the hotel to avoid queues. They have a private parking lot, and their travel photography service is also quite good. Unlike other places that often have hidden charges or push you to buy more, here it's just 399 for all your photos, with no pressure to select more or request extra retouches. It's great that the hotel didn't raise prices during the summer. I recommend booking in advance, as it's usually fully booked every day."
JinHuangQi Homestay (Huayan Temple in Datong Ancient City)
"We were very satisfied with our two-night stay; the service was excellent. The location was also superb, convenient for getting around, and there are many places to explore in the Southeast Yi area. The room had a bathtub, which our child loved! Thank you for your hospitality! 🌹"
youqing hotei
"This hotel didn't have any ratings yet, but I chose it based on a few glowing reviews. First off, there's parking right in front of the hotel, and if that's full, they have their own parking lot just across the road, and a friendly security guard will show you the way. The lobby has coffee, snacks, and even a kids' play area. Each floor is neatly stocked with bottled water for guests to grab whenever they like. I was amazed when I entered my room – it was huge! 👍 The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, smart fixtures, and the TV was enormous – casting to it was a blast. The room was clean and tidy. There's a laundry room and a restaurant on the 2nd floor. For this price, getting all these amenities is definitely worth it! 😁 Now for the important part: the service. From the security guard and the front desk ladies to the maintenance guys, the housekeeping staff, and the restaurant workers – everyone greeted us with a smile and a friendly hello when we came and went. When you're traveling, who doesn't want to feel happy every day? 😍 The location is great too; it's convenient for all the attractions and there are plenty of delicious and affordable food options nearby. This is definitely my top choice hotel in Datong. I hope they keep up the good work, and I'll definitely recommend it to my friends! 💯"
Shangdu Hotel
"This hotel offers massage and bathing facilities. The rooms are spacious, and the bedding is quite comfortable. We were a large group, so we booked three rooms. In one room, the duvet cover felt a bit damp, probably due to the weather and not being dried thoroughly. We reported it, and they promptly replaced it. I particularly want to recommend the massages in the massage area; the technique was excellent, and the price was very reasonable. It was perfect for unwinding after a day of city walking. The only slight drawback is that the restaurant is shared with the adjacent eLong hotel, and the food there wasn't quite up to par."
Xi Yue Hotel
"The hotel is conveniently located near Wuyue Plaza, offers free parking, and even has charging stations. The room was spacious and clean, and the smart amenities were a thoughtful touch. Overall, a great stay!"
Hampton by Hilton Datong
"The hotel was very clean, and the front desk service was excellent. They even upgraded our room to a much larger one. The breakfast was plentiful, and when we checked out, they thoughtfully asked if we wanted to take two bottles of water with us. Highly recommend!"
Moshang Light Luxury Hotel (Datong Ancient City Huayan Temple Branch)
"The location is great. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was polite and helpful."
Mercure Datong Railway Station
"The front desk staff, Xiao Wei, was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The hotel facilities were also excellent."
Datong Hongya Hotel
"The room facilities are very new and well-arranged, with double sinks, and separate toilet and shower areas. I particularly want to commend the thoughtful electrical layout and lighting design in the room – so many small details that make it incredibly comfortable. Dining downstairs is super convenient; most dishes are available in smaller portions, which is perfect for couples. The walnut pie is so delicious, I'd give it 120 points; we ordered it every meal. All the other dishes were also great, you can order anything without worrying about it being bad. Next time I'm in Datong, I'll definitely stay here again."
