I'm glad that I finally get to stay here although I wanted to rest in the sun out in the open space but couldn't due to winter. Overall, great service and nice breakfast which is about 10mins away!"

"The Yunzhong Chaoran Pavilion was newly renovated just prior to our stay in January 2026. The whole building is spotless, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The staff make an effort to understand you, and are adept at using translation apps when conversation breaks down. They have a “Xiao Du” feature , similar to the American “Alexa”, where you can ask it to turn lights off and on, as well as to open and close the curtains . The receptionist patiently helped me to learn how to use it - and frankly , it was great practice for my pronunciation of Mandarin. Finding the hotel is as challenging as any other located where vehicles are not permitted to enter. We were fortunate to have a taxi driver who helped us figure out where the hotel was, and then walked us there. Datong is not yet well known as a tourist destination. However, it is a reasonably close drive to the Hanging Temple and the Grottoes, as well as the Wooden Pagoda. There is plenty to see within walking distance. The city space around the hotel is under construction- I expect it will become a lot more popular in the next two years."

"This hotel opened in 2024, has new facilities, large rooms, clean and tidy. The location is strategic, close to the ancient city, and a taxi to Shanhua Temple is the starting price. Downstairs is Tianyuan Beiwei Family Banquet and Kaige Hot Pot City, and next door is Hongya Hotel, both of which are famous on the Datong gourmet list. Dining is so convenient. The backyard of the hotel is a large parking lot with free parking. The service staff are very enthusiastic. The hotel's breakfast is rich and delicious. Very satisfied!"

"Very comfortable stay. Hotel is older but in excellent condition with very comfortable quiet rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The breakfast was excellent with extensive Chinese and western options and even espresso coffee made to order. There was a bit of smoke smell in the corridor at times but none in the rooms and everything was very clean. Hotel was well located in the old town and close to the impressive nine dragon screen. We’d happily stay again"

"This stay was such a pleasant surprise! The hotel is located in the heart of the city center, and the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and professional, checking in in just three minutes. The room was so clean it was practically glowing, the mattress was just the right firmness, and the down comforter was so warm and cozy, it felt like nestling in a cloud – I fell asleep instantly. The bathroom had a superb separation of wet and dry areas, and the water pressure was like a professional spa treatment, with 24-hour hot water to wash away any fatigue. The most unexpected thing was the room's soundproofing; you couldn't hear a thing outside, and the curtains were excellent at blocking out the light, allowing me to sleep soundly until I naturally woke up."
