They also helped us order food and gave great recommendations, which made our trip so much easier. The room itself was surprisingly high tech, with a fun sound control system that made the stay even more enjoyable. Although the room is on Level 2 with no lift, the host kindly carried our luggage up during check in and brought it down again when we checked out. Their helpfulness really made a difference. Breakfast was lovely — nutritious, tasty, and just the right kind of start before heading out to explore. Overall, we felt very welcomed and well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Datong.

Stepping out, you're right on Gulou East Street, perfect for exploring, and Southeast Yi is just a few minutes' walk away. Despite its bustling street location, the guesthouse's courtyard offers surprising tranquility. We slept soundly through the night and woke up naturally, completely undisturbed. The owner and the housekeeper were incredibly thoughtful and attentive. They were always ready to answer any questions, from before our arrival until our departure, and their responses were always very detailed. Every day, the housekeeper would kindly ask us what time we'd like breakfast the next morning, and at the agreed time, she'd even come to our room door to let us know it was ready. I absolutely adored it!!! If I ever visit again, I would definitely choose Yishui Street.

The inn is located inside Wuding Gate, on Ziyun Huacheng Jiuxianli street, right at the doorstep of Daiwangfu, making it convenient to go anywhere. The north gate area is quiet, and it's an easy stroll to the ancient city center. I booked the 'Deep Sleep, Leftover Wine | Zhi Fou No. 2 Courtyard · Listening to Rain Family Suite,' which was more than enough space for one person. The room was clean and tidy with excellent facilities. What impressed me most was the bed – the mattress was just right, not too soft and not too hard; once I lay down, I didn't want to get up. I later learned that the owner truly invests in their bedding. The tea room was my favorite spot every day. Brewing a pot of tea and reading a book, with the silhouette of the ancient city wall outside the window, that sense of tranquil relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle is something I hadn't experienced in a long time. I must particularly praise the service. The owner hadn't eaten after returning from the Hanging Temple late at night, and one of the staff members ran out to buy instant noodles for him. These small details really warm your heart. The free pick-up service was hassle-free, and the owner even helped me book a reservation at Fenglin Pavilion. The welcome fruit and snacks were also perfectly arranged. The inn allows pets without any extra charge. Although I was traveling alone this time, seeing other guests with their dogs sunbathing in the courtyard felt incredibly heartwarming. The biggest fear when traveling alone is staying somewhere desolate, but here, the elegance of the designer courtyard, the warmth of the housekeeper, and the tranquility of the ancient city wall made me feel incredibly well taken care of. It's close to the North City Wall and convenient for visiting attractions like Huayan Temple, Daiwangfu, and the Nine Dragon Screen in the ancient city. It was also easy to reach all the eateries on my must-try list, such as Longjuxiang, Zini 369, Heshengcai, and Xijindao Snacks, and I managed to check them all off! I passed by Kuixing Tower and its wishing doll countless times; perhaps it was fate, haha 😄. For those who are too lazy to even walk a kilometer, there are shared bikes available. The owner is incredibly welcoming; they contacted me half a day in advance, added me on WeChat, and waited for me at the entrance. They went over all the important details and even asked about my breakfast preferences for the next day. The breakfast itself was perfectly portioned, exquisite, and nutritious. This place exceeded my expectations, another big thumbs up! Choosing this accommodation has made me even more excited for future solo travels. I've been to several provinces and cities, but my trip to Datong, Shanxi this time was truly exceptional. It was during the Dragon Boat Festival, and the hotel gave us a complimentary souvenir. They even offered late-night snacks. The gym, however, was inaccessible even with the room card; I'm not sure what was going on there. The front desk had fruit and candies, and the service was genuinely great. If any friends are coming to Datong, Shanxi, I highly recommend staying at the Ailai Hotel. Even the name is well-chosen – it truly makes you 'love to come' (ài lái)!

We booked this hotel due to its proximity to Datong South High Speed Rail Station. We rarely walk from the station to our hotel to check-in, but we hired didi on our check-out day as the fare was merely RMB2.30 in the morning. Cleanliness of the room was ok, but the carpeted area looks dirty. Room services for any under-provide items was fast. Restaurant on level 1 under renovation. No issue for us to travel out to get food as the didi cost was very cheap. Hotel cost for 3 days 2 nights was very reasonable. Recommended!

The location of the hotel is perfect. It is the right place to stay when visiting the Hanging Temple and Jin Temple. The room and bed are large, especially suitable for bringing children. It is no problem for a family of three to stay in a big bed. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas. The breakfast is also very good. Overall, it is very cost-effective.

The hotel has very spacious and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is only Chinese, but rich and plentiful. We can't comment on the location because we always took taxis to the attractions around Datong (the wooden pagoda, hanging monasteries, and the Yungang Grottoes), but right next to the hotel are plenty of restaurants and places to grab a quick bite. The staff seemed helpful, but no one spoke English, so we had to use a translation app, which wasn't always accurate, and communication was somewhat hampered.
