GGuest UserI can’t stop raving about this inn. It is a B&B style three stories tall inn located inside the Datong Ancient City. Complimentary shuttle service between the airport or railway station made it really convenient for out of town travelers. The guest room was clean and equipped with modern facilities like automatic toilets, coded entry, projection screens, etc. The inn is located near the north gate of the city amongst other accommodations. Within minutes of walking is access to the top of the city wall where bike rental is available to ride along the wall. The inn is very quiet at night. The inn is family operated and everyone was very hospitable. What sets this inn apart from other accommodations in the area is their dedication to service. The owner knew I was a tourist and new to the area, she offered to pick me up if I got lost wandering the ancient city. The breakfast came with my reservation. When the owner found out I had to depart before breakfast serving hours, she went above and beyond to prepare food and served me 30 minutes ahead of schedule. The food tasted amazing and came with abundant varieties and huge portions. It was definitely not part of the service to drop off at another venue, but the owner took me to my next accommodation 2km away. I truly appreciate everything this inn and its staff has done for me. I am so glad to have chosen to stay this beautiful little inn on my first night in Datong. I will definitely stay here again without a doubt on my next visit.

CCoco catHygiene: The room was very clean, and all the toiletries were provided.
Environment: Located in the ancient city, it's quiet yet bustling. It's just a 10-minute walk to Daiwangfu.
Facilities: They had a humidifier, a heater in the bathroom, and Daikin air conditioning, just like at my own home, so I was extremely satisfied.
Service: They picked me up from the station and dropped me off. Since my high-speed train was very early, we were very grateful for the drop-off. The butler brought us whatever we needed.
Summary: The butler even helped us take some candid photos, and in the evening, they provided milk and other amenities. The only regret is that we left too early to go sightseeing and didn't get to try their breakfast.

GGuest UserThe B&B is located on the roadside of Daciyao Village, the ancient town of Hengshan. It is very close to the gate of Hengshan Mountain and the Hanging Temple. The owner sent a car to pick us up at Hengshan Mountain and the Hanging Temple, which is very convenient. The owner is warm and hospitable, and the front desk smiles kindly and simply. The room is large, clean, elegant and quiet. It is the first choice for meeting a mountain temple.

GGuest UserVery good boss, very good homestay 😭 knife-cut noodles are very delicious, the room facilities are very tasteful, it is very comfortable to blow the breeze in the small courtyard, the boss is very good to help us upgrade the room type, stayed for a few days and experienced a lot of local humanities, everyone is very enthusiastic, Datong is really a very good city, outstanding people and beautiful scenery, I will come again next time 🥹🥹🥹

AAnonymous UserThe location is a bit hard to find; you have to go in through the door next to this soy sauce shop. A kind man there helped guide you. The loft room is suitable for a family; the bed is quite large. I didn't realize there was no air conditioning, but the owner was very kind and went to buy a fan for us that night. Otherwise, without windows and air conditioning, it would have been very stuffy at night. It happened to be raining heavily, so the temperature was quite low. The owner said he would install air conditioning later. The room is quite new, but there was no strange smell. After getting rained on, the shower was a bit hot, but it wasn't enough for a family to shower immediately; we had to wait for the water to heat up. We didn't know this at first and took a cold shower, but the owner told us to wait for the water to heat up. It's relatively close to the old town.

MM449732****My daughter and I made plans to see a JJ Lin concert in Beijing. She mentioned the spectacular thousand-year-old wooden pagoda in nearby Datong's Yingxian County, so we decided to visit Datong. When we booked a hotel, we found a fantastic deal, so we booked five nights, only arriving in Beijing for one. Once we arrived, we discovered Datong is truly a gem. The temperature was a comfortable 20 degrees Celsius, and the attractions were breathtaking, from the natural wonders—the earth forests and volcanic clusters—to the cultural and historical attractions—the Yungang Grottoes, the Datong Museum, the Hanging Temple, the wooden pagoda, and the Huayan Temple. I highly recommend this B&B. It's clean, the service is excellent, and the location is fantastic. In the morning, when I opened the curtains, I could see the sunrise over the mountains—a breathtaking view. It's also conveniently located near the train station, just a 10-minute bike ride to the ancient city. The shopping mall is just around the corner, and the famous Long Juxiang is right there—delicious food with no lines. The best part is, I expected the proximity to the train station to be noisy, but it was incredibly quiet. Otherwise, I would have stayed a few more days to catch the concert in Beijing. Datong was the main attraction of this concert trip, and the concert itself took a back seat. I was so happy!

HHunboonCab fare from Hunyuan bus station to hotel is RMB10(fixed price),from hotel to Hengshan and Xuankong temple is RMB20 and 15 respectively. Hotel staff provided great service and advice, helping with the laundry washing and gave us aloe Vera gel for moisturising. They also helped us to confirm the bus trip from Hunyuan to Wutaishan by calling and contacting the bus station staff to ensure we will not be cheated. There's a shopping centre opposite which sells apparel and shoes at wholesale price. Lots of food options nearby too

GGuest UserI recently stayed at the Xiyun Hotel Datong on a business trip. The overall experience far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it.
The hotel's location is exceptionally advantageous, nestled in the Dongxin Plaza area. Surrounded by well-developed commercial facilities and convenient transportation, it's incredibly convenient for both commuting and shopping, saving me significant time and energy on my business trips.
The front desk staff were highly professional, and the reception process was efficient and smooth. During check-in, they were enthusiastic and proactive, not only completing the formalities quickly but also patiently answering my questions about the hotel's facilities and surroundings. This attentive service made me feel cared for and respected even in a foreign city.
The guest rooms were comfortable and pleasant, with a well-planned layout and elegant, simple decor. The bed had the perfect firmness and the high-quality linens provided a good night's sleep, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a busy day. The in-room amenities were well-equipped and functioned well, meeting all my business needs.
The hotel's dining service was also commendable, with a rich and nutritious breakfast menu featuring both local specialties and more traditional Western dishes, catering to every palate. Furthermore, the hotel's strict security measures and excellent hygiene in both public areas and guest rooms create a safe and clean experience.
The Xiyun Hotel Datong, with its prime location, excellent service, comfortable environment, and comprehensive facilities, provided me with a perfect stay. I believe that whether traveling for business or pleasure, choosing the Xiyun Hotel will not disappoint. I highly recommend it to everyone!

GGuest UserThis hotel is really really beautiful - maybe even more than the photos show. Even though the style is traditional, everything inside the room is new, and there's even an elevator to take up bags. The location is amazing too, inside the old city wall, and I walked everywhere except the out of town attractions I visited. I think anywhere you stay in Datong you might have some communication challenges if you don't speak Chinese, but the owner here was very helpful once I put wechat on my phone to be able to talk with translation help, and he was able to arrange a last minute taxi out to the hanging temple after I had given up trying to get one. However, even though he was very helpful, he wasn't always around, and checking in was a bit difficult because there was nobody at the desk. I think this is only a problem if you don't speak Chinese though.
Unfortunately, the wifi didn't always reach to my room on the 3rd floor well, and I could only get a trickle of hot water out of the shower. Overall though, I was super happy with this place and would recommend it!

The staff is helpful, I could store my bicycle in one of the free rooms.
The room is ok, the bathroom smelled like humidity and was not very clean. The room smelled of cigarrette.
All in all a good hotel to stay a couple of days.
