"This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The service at the buffet breakfast was impeccable while the breakfast varieties were acceptable. The service provided by the staff with the employees' tag below was superb during my breakfast. The room is huge, a truly international 5 star quality. Daily cleaning service was great while I didn't manage to get their name, but kudos to their services. All in all, my experience here was great, and I would recommend anyone who stay at this hotel."

"Spacious room, clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were more than adequate with a choice of varieties. Hotel location was ok just outside the wall though neighbouring shops were all shuttered. Taxis plentiful and inexpensive. Nightly dinner was at the hotel restaurant - good food, surprisingly very affordable prices and extremely good services from the staff. What stood out most were the very helpful, cheerful staff, at the front desk, restaurants, and cleaners!"

"Excellent hotel with great staff and great service. Location good, about a 15-20 min walk or 9 minute Didi ride to the ancient city. Rooms clean, extremely comfortable and with all the necessary amenities. Breakfast had a wide range of choices, the local Datong options are especially good. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again."

"The hotel's location is fairly convenient, and there's ample parking right outside. The overall style and decor are typical of an older, government-affiliated hotel, which means it's a bit dated. In-room facilities aren't new; the TV is small, and the toiletries (shampoo, shower gel, etc.) are of very low quality – completely unworthy of the price. Housekeeping was average, and the cleanliness was acceptable. What I really want to emphasize is that during the peak summer travel season, most families travel with children, and the way the staff at the hotel breakfast entrance handled things was totally inappropriate. Regardless of whether guests had breakfast vouchers or not, their tone was incredibly annoying and infuriating. They spoke to everyone entering with a hostile tone, demanding room numbers and names as if we were criminals. I wish they would learn from well-run resort hotels, which prioritize service before payment. I even overheard the staff at the entrance telling some families, 'So-and-so asked us to take care of these guests,' which was utterly unbelievable. Seeing this kind of service first thing in the morning really sours your mood for the entire day. Breakfast recommendation: The knife-cut noodles are delicious. Friendly reminder: For families traveling, I'd strongly advise you to think twice and choose a hotel with better service."

"A very cost-effective hotel! Although the hotel is far from the ancient city, it is very close to museums and art galleries. Wanda Plaza is across the road, where there are two famous old restaurants in Datong, which are very convenient for eating, drinking and having fun. It is suitable for self-driving travel, and the underground parking lot is large. The hotel's buffet is great, especially the knife-cut noodles, mutton offal noodles and mutton dumplings, which are very authentic. The hotel room is well soundproofed and the whole hotel is very quiet. Of course, there are some shortcomings. For example, in the early April weather, the hotel room was extremely hot and dry, and the air conditioner did not provide cold air. It could only open the window 24 hours a day to dissipate heat, and the temperature control was not in place. The curtains in the room are behind a whole row of sofas. There are no smart facilities. You can only climb up the sofa to open and close the curtains, which is very inconvenient. The hotel twin room only has a single bed of 1.2 meters, and the double room is only 1.8 meters, which is not friendly to families with children. I hope to add a parent-child room with two beds, one large and one small."

The front desk representative, Cheng Zipo, was especially patient in handling all inquiries and invoice requests. The service was excellent and highly recommended!"

While the hotel's pool isn't huge, the water is crystal clear, and you can often see staff regularly testing and maintaining it. The area around the pool is also very clean and tidy, equipped with comfortable lounge chairs where you can relax after a swim. A refreshing dip here is perfect for both exercise and relaxation. Finally, I must commend the hotel's thoughtful attention to detail – they provide L'Occitane toiletries. L'Occitane's bath products are renowned for their high quality, fresh and pleasant scent, and rich lather. After using them, skin and hair feel clean and comfortable, which truly adds a luxurious touch to the stay. Overall, Wyndham Grand Shanxi Datong excels in both its facilities and service quality.
