"The hotel was new and the rooms were clean, but the service was terrible! We arrived at the front desk at night, and there were three or four staff members standing there laughing and joking. After I showed my ID, they told me that someone had already checked me in?! It turned out that after a long discussion, they realized it was because a man with the same name as me had booked the same room type, and they gave him the room I had booked in advance (I had noted that I didn't want the last room and wanted it away from the elevator)?! Such a big hotel?! Don't they even check the information when registering guests? The phone numbers are different, and the genders are different too?! While I was standing at the front desk late at night waiting for them to resolve the issue, the receptionist kept yelling about what to do about the man's booking?! Where was I supposed to stand?! She didn't even apologize, and she was yelling at me about the wrong booking!! Am I supposed to fix her problem? Is this how you train your staff for such a big hotel? And this is supposed to be number one on the luxury list? Is this the level of service you're providing? Don't tell me it's because there are too many guests during the Chinese New Year. If you're so busy during the holidays, how could you make a mistake checking guest information? After making me stand for at least ten minutes, they finally gave me a room. They even gave me a last-minute room near the elevator! When I saw this, I called the front desk, and they said, ”Oh, all the rooms you booked are last-minute rooms?” Why didn't you write on the booking page that all City View Suites are last-minute rooms? It felt like the staff didn't know what they were doing; the service was completely disproportionate to the hotel's quality! Oh, and by the way, the laundry room was closed during the New Year period, and they didn't mention this at all when I messaged customer service during booking. 😃 The score is for cleanliness and hotel infrastructure; service is zero."

"Traveling with our 2-year-old for a weekend getaway, booking this hotel saved us so much hassle! We decided not to drive since it was a bit far, and with all our luggage and pushing the stroller, our hands were full. The hotel thoughtfully arranged pick-up and drop-off service for us. The location is excellent, very close to the ancient city and the main district, so we could walk almost everywhere. The hotel's food was also good and met our baby's dietary needs. The hotel's design is truly impressive, perfectly blending with Datong's ancient city and grotto art. From the doors, windows, and pathways to the water features, plants, lighting, and even the fragrance, everything is subtly integrated and understated, making it a fantastic spot for photos."

"The hotel's location is excellent, within walking distance of the ancient city. The facilities are of a high standard; although a bit older, they are well-maintained. The room was spacious, bright, and airy, facing the ancient city with beautiful night views. The hotel breakfast offered local specialties, including knife-cut noodles and lamb offal soup, all readily available. The local farm milk, in particular, had an amazing taste. During my stay, I accidentally left my coffee cup in the restaurant. Ms. Zhang Ruiqi, the assistant manager, went above and beyond to help me find it and return it to my room, despite the trouble I caused. Her warmth and professionalism were truly impressive."

"Before booking, I was most concerned about the air conditioning, and I finally got to experience it firsthand. Datong's heating supply runs until April 15th, a full month later than Tianjin. During the heating period, the hotel's air conditioning only provides heat, not cool air. So, contrary to what many online reviews suggested, I couldn't use the AC to cool the room and had to rely on opening the windows to alleviate the heat. However, I couldn't keep the windows open while sleeping, which left me feeling very dry and uncomfortable when I woke up. The first night of my stay was the second day of the Qingming holiday. When I showered that evening, the water pressure from the showerhead was pitifully low, so I had to make do with the handheld spray. Thankfully, the bathtub's water temperature was reliable. By the second night, with a drop in occupancy, both the breakfast service and the shower pressure were much better. The swimming pool is open from 6 AM to 9 PM. I feel it opens too early and closes too early. Wouldn't 8 AM to 11 PM be better? The hotel lobby is very spacious. Since Fenlin Pavilion is located in the Wyndham lobby, the Yungang side actually feels more upscale and grand. Fenlin Pavilion stops issuing numbers before 7:30 PM and closes at 9 PM. For lunch, they're open until 2 PM. Commercial facilities in Datong really aren't that competitive. There's no sliding door between the room's bathtub and the bed, so privacy is nonexistent. The omnipresent crystal chandeliers and mirrors give off a somewhat 'Middle Eastern prince' vibe. The sensor-activated nightlights near the floor get a hundred stars – they're incredibly convenient for midnight bathroom trips. Even a coffee machine and a refrigerator are provided. The breakfast's 'dao xiao mian' (knife-cut noodles) are a specialty, and the coffee is good. However, the dessert selection is meager, with only one or two options."

"This is an older five-star hotel with a grand and elegant design. The rooms are clean and tidy, and all the towels, from hand towels to bath towels, are fluffy and soft. The front desk staff and cleaning ladies I encountered were all very kind and friendly. It's rare to find a water bar with a direct drinking faucet. The breakfast is delicious, and they even offer sliced noodles as a late-night snack after 9:30 PM. The Chinese restaurant also offers very affordable prices. On my way back, I discovered that the bottled water provided during my stay was actually 'Wuye Holy Spring' from Mount Wutai. A hotel with such thoughtful gestures definitely deserves a glowing review!"

"Our stay was absolutely fantastic! From the airport pick-up, to checking in, and all the way to checking out, everything was smooth and pleasant. All the staff, from those handling the airport transfers, to the front desk, housekeeping, and other services, were incredibly warm and caring. You could really feel their genuine dedication to service and their passion for working at Nian Xia (Summer in the Southeast). The room itself was great too, with welcome fruits and all the amenities you could need. It's also super convenient for getting around and finding places to eat. Plus, with your room key, you get free entry to the Nian Xia Art Museum, which features INART and Tiankai sculptures – absolutely amazing!"
