Mud Crab Motel

Mud Crab Motel

📍 4 Hardman St, Derby
★★ 5.9 (9 reviews)

"My friend and I stayed for three nights. We had a queen room each. Good value for money. Clean and hygienic. Friendly staff. Recommended- would stay again."

Spinifex Hotel

Spinifex Hotel

📍 Spinifex Motel, 6 Clarendon St, Derby
★★★ 7.4 (43 reviews)

"We had a two night stay here. Our first night was in a downstairs room where the toilet plumbing was leaking across the floor into the shower area, also causing an awful stench. The hairdryer was broken with exposed wiring and the lock safe didn’t work. After complaining to staff we were allocated a different (upstairs) room for our second night. The handles of both the kitchen sink and the shower fell off during use. The toilet cistern wouldn’t refill so we were unable to use the toilet. We would never stay here again!"

Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm

Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm

📍 Broome-Cape Leveque Rd, Dampier Peninsula
★★★★ 8.6 (19 reviews)

"This is a highly recommended nature campsite, but the Ctrip description isn't very detailed. The official website has a more detailed description. It's actually divided into two areas: one near the reception and restaurant, and the other, with safari tents, two kilometers from the reception, requiring an off-road vehicle to reach."

Boab Inn

Boab Inn

📍 98-100 Loch St, Derby
★★★ 5.5 (21 reviews)

"This place should be closed down for accommodation until basic standards are met. Dirty rooms, overgrown, rotting fixtures, disgusting place. Filthy toilet, TV doesn't work, rubbish strewn around the breezeways between the rooms, smells awful, weeds and dirt, threadbare bedding, horrible mattress, flat pillows, the list goes on."

Mud Crab Motel ★★
"Derby is Derby! The room is small but clean and comfortable. Great shower. Manager was amazing. As it is a very limited restaurant, mostly takeaway for the locals, he cooked us a roast dinner to help feel at home."

Spinifex Hotel ★★★
"There is little to detain even the most inquisitive traveller at Derby which is the frontier settlement at the western end of the Gibb River Road so a night is as much as you’re likely to spend here and the Spinifex is up to the task. The good: our guest room (one queen + one single bed) was clean, spacious, relatively quiet and reasonably comfortable. Everything expected was there and it all worked as expected. The beds were comfortable, the linens clean and were each able to find a pillow we liked. The bathroom was of adequate size and the plumbing mostly worked OK. The included Wifi worked well on all our devices. Meals taken in the main hotel were wholesome and tasty and the service staff were efficient and attentive. The not so good: the Spinifex assuredly offers Derby’s premium lodgings, but they are still more serviceable than desirable. Architecturally speaking, the guest rooms have more in common with a shipping container than traditional hotel or motel rooms and the décor could best be described as spartan. The hot water from the shower in our room suffered from some unpredictable and uncomfortable temperature fluctuations if used during the evening or morning rush hours and the bathroom lighting was adequate for everything except shaving or, I assume, making up. "Stayed here a couple of months ago. Worst hotel experience of my life. My partner was trying to sleep and started complaining of itching. We got up and discovered bed bugs in the mattres. We went and told the manager who came to the room along with a few other people she was drinking with. They all dented there were bed bugs despite the obvious evidence. All 3 of the people in the room were rude and condescending, my partner was asked to remove his shirt to prove he had been bitten then in the worst display of customer service ive ever experienced he was asked if he had scabies! We were offered a new room but unfortunately that one also had bed begs, so we left and slept in our car. We phoned the next day to be told there were no bed bugs and were denied a refund after requesting one. I reported this to the council who did an inspection and who informed me later there were actually bed bugs. I contacted the hotel again only to be told again that there were no bed bugs or any evidence of them, despite the council inspection and been told myself by them there were bed bugs and the photos I took of the evidence. No apology for the way we were treated, apparentl it was their broken english, not the clearly spoken and understood rude and insulting way we were treatedI. I was offered a refund if I rung the venue back and speak the the manager, the one who asked my partner to take of his shift and if he had scabies. I chose not to have any more contact at this point. Pity the higher up manager couldn't apologise for his rude staff, admit the bed bugs or provide a refund himself withoute having to speak again to the man, who apparently wasn't rude."
