Booked the Rockstar package for two nights for our 20th wedding anniversary. Staff were really welcoming and friendly and also really flexible where they could be with times they served things. The cocktails were amazing, the number 5 and champagne supernova were our favourites. Having mimosas with breakfast was a proper treat too. The rooms are small but have everything you need. Theres no fridge but to be honest you don’t need one - the staff will bring you drinks etc to your room, or supply ice as and when. We will definitely return.

Location: The Cowgate is an excellent location as it’s just minutes from historic Edinburgh. Near lots of amazing pubs, bars, clubs like comedy & cabaret. 5-10 minute walk from Waverley is handy, a few car parks near by however HOG don’t offer a reduced guest rate for parking at any of these. This would be a nice addition. Hotel: The decor is so stylish & intimate. Loved the whole aesthetic & vibe. From the outside it doesn’t look like much. Actually quite disappointing because it looks modern & out of place in the area but not the hotels fault really. Service: Very friendly & attentive staff. They were always up for a chat & made you feel very welcome. They also couldn’t have been more accommodating. We asked for a few amendments to our package to suit our tastes & it was not an issue in the slightest. Room: Cabin room was exactly that. A cabin. Just enough room to swing a cat. It was very orient express. The bathroom being as big saved it however if it never had the double shower then you could get a bit more room space. There was the slightest bit of natural light from the frosted window however there was no ventilation. The room desperately needs some ventilation. Even just a little slot hatch. The aircon was not cooling the room at all but apparently this was an ongoing issue that was working on being resolved. We still got a decent nights sleep but the room was very hot & stuffy. Because we were out most of the day it wasn’t a deal breaker but could be for some. Treat me like I’m famous: Really good rider & a lovely treat. The glasses of Prosecco, balloons & petals give that extra special feel when you arrive. The bottle & chocolates came home with us as we were out most of the day so it’s was great that these were sealed & packaged so we never had to them on the spot. The cocktails delivered to the room was great as well as we could have a nice drink whilst getting ready. Bar tab was just perfect as we got a couple of cocktails & a couple of spirits with a mixer in the bar to end the night, just enough alcohol given the Prosecco & cocktails earlier, but also because we were out for dinner having a drink with the meal too. The milk & cookies is fun just before bed but it would be better if you were given the option on the flavour of cookie. We were half expecting just milk chocolate but got raspberry & white chocolate which my wife doesn’t like. Because of the time of night we couldn’t really be bothered to ask about changing this so I ended up with 2. The breakfast hamper was difficult to work through because there isn’t any surface space to work with, just the bed. The items were very basic, like what you’d take on a camping trip. Not exactly ideal but without a kitchen you can’t really expect anything more. Value: You do get a more luxurious experience but for the price you expect it to be more quality. You could get a better room somewhere else for the price without the experience, but the experience is what we wanted. I think

The experience was something else, the decor, the mood created and the staff were 100% the best I’ve had. The only downside to the night was the heat in room, only small fan and air conditioning that lacked any punch. 1 night is best for this hotel! But would definitely be back once heat sorted.

House of Gods is a delight to stay at. Yes - the rooms are small that is the point! The sexy feel, the stay in bed attitude, the WhatsApp where you can get anything delivered to your door in mere minutes, the push for Prosecco - need I go on. The sheets are heavy and luxurious, the add ons work out great value, the staff friendly and warm. The only thing I’d like to see is a choice at breakfast as someone who isn’t a fan of crossiants, bagel or toast would be better! But the mimosa always goes down a treat. Extended my stay twice last time and already looking to return. Excellent 🤩

Great location and walking distance to everything in Edinburgh. Check in is easy, and rooms are cozy--maybe a little small by American standards. There is a button for "milk and cookies" or "Prosecco" in the room, love that! The cocktail bar is the star here. The menu looks like Vogue magazine, and the original cocktails are on point. The bartenders are awesome. Would stay here again!

Great location, nice staff, nice ambience. Rooms are very compact, feels crowded and claustrophobic after 3 days as windows are opaque glass bricks. Also very dark, hard to see and find my clothes. Bathroom hooks fell off wall, so nowhere to hang things in wet room. Hallway smells musty and damp. Noisy air vent in corner, which never stops. Considering the very high price, it was disappointing.

Great location and really loved the deco. The staff went above and beyond. The room was clean and well presented. The only point I feel noting is the size of the rooms, it was small and lacked hangers and storage space.

Poorest value hotel we have ever stayed in Hotel is described as opulent however we found it claustrophobic and dingy. We knew that Edinburgh hotels would be expensive however the quality and size of our room does not justify to price If also feels as if they are trying to squeeze more money at every opportunity If you stay here and are sharing a bed be aware that you will have to climb over someone if you want to use the loo. Never again!

Staying at The House of the Gods was an absolute delight, with our room evoking the cosy charm of an Orient Express compartment. The bathroom was petite, requiring a bit of careful balancing to keep water from escaping the shower—adding to the quirky character of the space. As part of our UK honeymoon, we arrived to find our room filled with balloons—a lovely, thoughtful touch, though we had to pop them quickly due to the limited space. The hotel’s rich red curtains, stylish cocktail bar, and exceptionally friendly staff made the stay all the more memorable. We didn’t order the cookies and milk before bed, but overheard a few guests raving about it. Its location is unbeatable, just minutes from Edinburgh Castle and the bustling Main Street, lined with shops, pubs, and restaurants. The House of the Gods is a charming, character-filled retreat that perfectly combines comfort, style, and a touch of playfulness.
