Hampton Hotel by Greene King Inns

The room was spacious and clean the only put off was that it appeared to be a bit dated and there was a strange odor in the room as well as the bedding. The bed was not a single unit rather it was two units placed together and you could feel the point where the two mattresses were joined.

Decided to visit for lunch a couple of weeks ago. I was met by a woman who looked like she was chewing a wasp and when I asked to sit outside rolled her eyes. Dumped our menus and left after 2 mins.

Stayed here for one night while at the Tattoo Convention, staff were friendly and helpful but the room wasnt the best. So glad it was one night and i was half drunk! The room is tired and in need of refurbishing. The bed was comfy but the sheets contained hairs,fluff and creases so unsure if the bed was clean. The chair in the room was broken, the carpets are dirty and the floor is uneven to the point you sit on the toilet and are leaning over! There wasnt any hand soap in the dispenser and the bathroom is small and has mouldy grouting. Location for our event was fine and free parking hence the 3 stars.

Albeit I have only given 4 stars, this is still a very friendly hotel full of character. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is excellent. I dropped a star because since we were last here there has been no improvement in maintenance nor money spent on improvements! The room we were in looked tired ( as it did two years ago when I last reviewed it!). Shower door almost impossible to open and close, shower head bracket hanging off, toilet roll holder hanging off, mould all over the ceiling and a very noisy extractor fan. Needs new beds!! The worst thing was no room cleaning service (at£168.50 per night!) Having said all that if you can see past those things , the people are the same as were there 2 years ago and they are still as friendly and helpful. Breakfast is superb! This is obviously a very popular and busy hotel and I can only imagine that they do not want to close any rooms for refurbishment because they are so busy! I think they will have to soon! Come on Greene King, splash some cash!

Great place to stay, very close to Murrayfield Stadium. Easily accessible to the city centre and airport by bus. Super friendly staff who care about their customers having a good stay with good recommendations off things to do and see around Edinburgh. The breakfast and restaurant food were top notch. Overall, my experience was outstanding, and I’ll choose Hampton Hotel by Greene Kings Inn again when I return to Edinburgh.

Short stay in Edinburgh, we didn't spend much time in the room but it was evident on arrival that the hotel (pub) and our room was in dire need of a refurb. Nobody greeted us its more of a pub with a few rooms upstairs, felt very neglected as a customer. The rooms decor was very outdated and needed a clean, on the second night I found lots of mould near the window (see photos I took) and a huge cobweb. Absolutely disgusting, the room wasn't clean when we arrived the bin had things inside and there was a used tissue in the shower. The pub needs a total refurb, money spent, new windows and a deep clean. Will never stay here again.
